My 10 most memorable reviews

OK, I've written the farewell column and done the photo shoot. Now I have to pick 10 memorable reviews that will be part of the Signing Off package.

Only I can't remember 10 most memorable reviews. (I have five so far if you count my first one.) They start to blur after all this time. Any nominations?

I hate to say it, but I think I'd have an easier time coming up with 10 most memorable posts here. Stuff like the top 10 things restaurant goers do wrong, the pancake in a can stuff, the Golden West and Birches fiascoes, etc.

Me, too. Maybe I should go look at my review of Golden West. The problem is before 1990 it's very cumbersome to look at reviews so I can't quickly scan them to jog my memory. EL

Aww, reading through your Signing Off package is making me sad, realizing how much you will be missed. I stumbled upon this blog near its beginning (early enough to witness Darlene's transition to Dahlink), and was immediately drawn to it. I lurked for a very long time before I built up the courage to join in. While I don't have a lot to offer with my limited culinary experience or palette, I have gained so much from you and so many others. I have laughed, teared up (RIP RtSO), shook my head in amazement/disbelief, all while trying to convince my boss I was actually working.

I hope you realize Elizabeth, that the success of this blog was no fluke. The environment that you established from the beginning brought together an amazing group of people, who may have never had the opportunity to interact with each other before this. And I am not only referring to the "regulars". Even as a lurker, I felt a kind of kinship with the others. I sincerely hope that the spirit of this blog continues on after you leave us. Thanks for everything Elizabeth, and I do hope you stick around and come play in the sandbox every now and then. It's much more fun being able to play than having to supervise!!

I plan to. Thanks! (I now have to come up with a super cool nom de blog.) EL

As your headline "writers" said last year, it's been 'A good place to bite, imbibe,"

How about "Al Fresser," EL?

Ms E

How does "anonymous one" work for you?

How about Large Shoes to Fill

Or SpringsToo.

J. See

I'll gladly surrender my post and rank to you, unintended pun notwithstanding.

^-^

SPAM at 12.13 a.m. I'm not Hal Laurent, but it's fun to pretend I am while he is probably sleeping.

I recommend "E-Liz." Electronic Elizabeth. Kinda like J-Lo, A-Rod, etc.

Or, heck, just stick with "EL" since we already know that one!

I like EL.

Not to digress from the nom-de-blog conversation but I think you should include at least one 3.5 star review of a restaurant that subsequently closed.... just to show the power and awesomeness that it is to be ELIZABETH LARGE, RESTAURANT CRITIC.

He takes restaurants seriously but not himself, and his favorite restaurant is the one you love, too.
