Breaking news!!!!

Love.jpg

I got a voice mail from someone at the Office of Tourism saying she had seen my blog item on Valentine's Day and wanted to let me know the governor will be announcing that "they" were extending Valentine's Day through Feb. 21 because of the weather.

Does our state government have the power to do that?

Wouldn't it have to be Hallmark?

That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.

It's not a federal holiday.

Thanks Mr. Govennor! First he scolds us all for whinig too much. SORRY DAD! I didnt realize you were in control of us! Then he grants an extention of Valentines day?
WHOPEE, that means NOTHING!

Ugh.

What's next? Is he going to move St. Patricks Day to his birthday because he is SO Irish?

I hope it's a joke.

so that means flowers will cost more for longer?

On one hand, it's the governor's responsibility to do whatever it takes to goose the economy along.

On the other hand (and I say this as a liberal) O'Malley has rather an inflated opinion of himself.

This may persuade me into cooking gourmet meals for MYSELF all week.

Oh, lighten up, folks! I am sure it is tongue in cheek in the interest of the economy. Let us not descend to the "blame everything on the Gov" tone of the other Sun blogs.

I'd think he'd have other things to keep him busy around now.

If my boyfriend hadn't had a breakdown and left me on NYE, I'd say sure, fine, extend it through Labor Day, what the hell.

But he did, and this makes me want to blow my brains out...ugh.

I just meant that I'm single and wouldn't be going out or celebrating anyway. But maybe this would encourage me to make more of an effort to treat myself this week.

Valentines Day is a sham. The card, flower and chocolate companies collude to rip you off.

Just say no people........just say no.

If I'm correct, isn't that when restaurant week ends also?

The place that I've seen that celebrates Valentine's Day the most is St Maarten. You see many girls and women dressed in red that day. It's very festive and the hope for romance is in the air.

Gee people - get a grip! Think of the florists, restaurant owners and other businesses that really depend on this "sham holiday" for a boost to their bottom line. It certainly doesn't hurt anyone, and it could help these folks.
