Bad snow news
I just turned on the TV to hear Marty Bass say the delightful words, "6 to 10 inches tomorrow."

I'm actually kind of torn. As a college senior, this may be one of the last times I have something to gain from it. However, my job requires me to show up on campus anyway. Ah well.
My shoulders are sore. :-) EL

This is bad news. I'm going to see snow shovels in my dreams. (nightmares?).

My shoulders, too! And that is just from the tiny path in my yard and my car (which is parked two blocks away). My neighborhood roads do not belong to the City, so we have to shovel them ourselves, and I really just can't. There may be snow on my section until June.

City Redux, even roads that are on the city maps are still waiting to see a plow. I have been told that the plows do not come automatically. People in the city need to call 311, and that only gets you on a list.

Adding insult to injury is never a nice thing. With that said, I am actually enjoying how the snow has transformed everything into a winter wonderland.

Since noon yesterday, every city plow I've seen has been just cruising around, not dropping salt, not plowing. Bad supervision.
My street hasn't been plowed since hour 6 of the storm. I wish they would, so I could walk there rather than fight over the very narrow paths we've worn where people didn't shovel (the local funeral home being the worst, I guess they are trying to get customers).

I hear that the city's snowpolws have GPS units, now, so that it is possible to tell how many passes have been made on each street. Such good intentions.....
About 2/3 of my block is in Baltimore County. I've watched the county plows pull the blade up as they cross the line.

My neighbors banded together yesterday and we "plowed" our entire street by hand. We dumped one entire city block of snow down the storm drains.
And when we finally broke through the wall of plowed snow on Baltimore St (and Lombard at the other end) and looked out we were very disappointed. We can get off our block, but the main arteries are barely navigable.
I have second-hand word from the city council that they're bringing in more equipment from other states, and it should be here tonight. Just in time for the next storm.
