Owners of Black Olive's new project

BlackOliveFish.JPGEd Gunts has an interesting story in today's paper on the Spiliadis family's new "green" inn. It's scheduled to open around the first of March.

The Spiliadis parents and son own the Black Olive seafood restaurant in Fells Point. (Hence the photo.)

The building at 803 S. Caroline St. will house a "gourmet market with a bakery, fish market and wine shop, 12 upscale guest suites (each named after a different Greek grape), and a rooftop wine bar and banquet facility called the Olive Room."

Ed told me he's going to the press conference today and will report back with any more details about the food-related parts of the project. I'll update here.

I was really excited to read about the endeavor this morning. I applaud the owners for wanting to share the details of the project.

I know that Rome wasn't built in a day but it did eventually get built. I was beginning to wonder in what century the addition to the Black Olive was going to be completed! Does anyone know if the wine bar that they talked about in the article on the roof is going to be open to the public or whether it will be limited to people that rent the banquet facilities? that would be a neat location for a wine bar since you would be eye level with the sea gulls.

The pic reminds me of my ice fishing days ... well, day.

@Hugh

The Wine bar will be open to the public. On occasion special events will close it to the public, but it should add nicely to the wine scene in that part of town.

More information about the Inn can be found at the link I provided above. Details of the wine bar will be published there as we unveil them.

Sorry the link is on my name.

Andy, thanks for the information. I love Greek wines. Will they be featuring wines from other countries or just from Greece.? I will keep my eyes open for any more details after the Inn opens. Good luck.
