Monday Morning Quarterbacking: Mr. Rain's Fun House

RainsFun.JPG

I don't usually read the comments under my reviews and stories (mostly because I don't usually reread them in "print"), but this time I happened to read the comments by privacy2003 under my review of Mr. Rain's Fun House. ...

I had complained about the overdone duck breast, and privacy2003 -- wonder what the story behind that user name is?  -- wrote: "I ate there on opening night, and the duck was medium rare (and delicious)--but both our server and David Brown came to our table and mentioned that customers tend to be freaked out by medium-rare duck."

Some might say as a restaurateur, you just can't win. Or, of course, you could ask the customer how he or she likes his or her duck.

Anyway, I promise to read carefully any comments posted under this entry about Mr. Rain's Fun House, your weekend, or what you want for Christmas.

Customers need to get over themselves. One of my favorite dishes in Baltimore, the pork belly BLT at Corks, was changed to replace the pork belly with applewood smoked bacon because customers were complaining that it was too fatty.

It's still a very good sandwich, but not the superb explosion of flavor that it was before they changed it.

Wow, EL, I was amused to find that my recent dinner at Mr. Rain's effectively mirrored yours. I took my best friend for a treat and we really enjoyed everything. We shared the yam soup (truly excellent) and the mango crab something (pretty good). She had the prawns+pheasant sausage (yum) and I had the black eyed pea cakes? (I focused on my tangy kale, the best I've ever had). We also shared the pumpkin cheesecake, which is TINY - but that's okay! Really I just wanted a bite of something sweet. It tasted really good.

Plus a few cocktails, and I'd say it was a pretty tasty evening! Very glad I checked it out.

Rather interesting place you've got here. Thanks for it. I like such topics and everything that is connected to this matter. I definitely want to read more soon.
