Richard reviews one last choice for Thanksgiving dinner
If you don't read Other Reviewer Richard's review in time to go there for Thanksgiving dinner, remember that the Eastern House will be open for Christmas dinner, too.
Photo caption: At Eastern House, left to right, manager Harriet Hatzidimitriou, daughter of former owners, new co-owner Alaine Li (she co-owns with Mr. Chen, but didn't know his first name), Mary and Nickolas Antonas who had owned the restaurant for over 40 years, but recently sold. Mary holds oysters stuffed with crabmeat with a crabcake, and beef stew, a comfort food. The restaurant will be open on Thanksgiving day.

I really enjoyed Richard's article. I have never been to Eastern House but I would definitely like to try it now.

For good chicken pot pie, you want to hit David and Dad on N. Charles on a Thursday lunch. Early. They run out.

This was a great review. I live within walking distance to Eastern House and have lunch there frequently. I sure hope it does not change. I usually choose from the daily specvial and always have their good soups ( split pea, baked potatoe, alvgolemono to name a few). Their specials are always a delight. Where else can one have baked shad filet or shad roe in the spring? It is good to see that Harriet's smilling face will still be there.

I walked by Eastern House Restaurant Saturday and they were open for business. They had been closed for a month for renovations and reopened on Fri.Jan 29. I looked in and didn't see much in the way of renovations, but the menu is completely different. They are now an Asian - American restaurant. the menu is heavy on fish, sushi, noodles etc.
I'm not a fan of asian food, but the hand lettered sign in the window inviting me to "Warm up with a bowl of wanton soup" almost convinced my to try it.

I walked by Eastern House on Monday and Tuesday at lunchtime, and there is a sign taped in the window that reads " Sorry we are closed"
