Now here's a holiday my daughter can get behind

First I get an e-mail from her telling me that Nov. 15 is National Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day. Then I get the two photos below [Clarification: These are of Gailor's freezer and fridge]. Anyone else who cares to send me photos of his or her refrigerator on Nov. 16, feel free. I'll post them. The cleaner and more artistic the better. ...

Well, gee, thanks. Now I can't ever clean out my fridge on 15 Nov. ever again.

I had plans to do it then, too. *sigh*

You can send me a photo anyway. EL

obviously the fridges of folks who don't cook or eat at home. I refuse to believe that those are "cleaned out"!

That's Gailor's freezer (top photo) and her fridge. I want to know what she's going to do to clean it out on Nov. 15. EL

Isn't she a vegetarian? Does she pull the pepperoni off of her french bread pizza?

She's not a moral vegetarian, which leaves a lot of latitude. As long as she can't imagine it ever being an animal (as in pepperoni) it seems to be OK. Of course, I should let her answer this herself. EL

Obviously those two refrigerators are owned by bachelors.

The milk is probably expired, to boot.

ADM-IV, you haven't been paying attention.

My refrigerator is a where I store all my souvenirs from my travels. Some people have a cabinet filled with chotskies like ash trays, shot glasses and figurines. Others have scrapbooks with postcards and maps. I have half of my refrigerator filled with various bottles and jars of sauces, jellies and spreads that I picked up throughout North America.

Does Gailor pay her own electric bills or are they lumped in with the rent? If I were her, I'd get a dorm fridge and unplug that one.

I usually clean my fridge in baby steps, one shelf at a time when it's relatively empty. I used to do the whole "take everything out and scrub top to bottom" routine but hated it.

Bob, I'm kinda sorta a vegetarian. Usually meat just doesn't appeal. I can easily go for weeks without it, but I'll have an occasional piece of chicken (or pepperoni slice ;)). My diet feels emptier these days when I don't eat meat, though, because I don't eat sushi constantly the way I did in LA.

Alexander D. Mitchell IV, it's fresh! I go through about a gallon a week (in coffee, cereal, with chocolate chip cookies, etc).

mitzi, it's included in my rent, but I have worried about the energy issue. It's a bit fuller now, but I still don't need such a big fridge.

I'm kinda sorta a vegetarian in so far as most of my side dishes and desserts don't include meat.

Funny, RoCK! This thread reminds me of the time one of my friends had a family feast with her sister-in-law (who happens to be Scottish). Even though she knew the two kids were vegetarians, EVERYTHING she served included meat products, including the salad. I think the kids ended up with rolls and some peanut butter from the kitchen.
