More Baltimore food memories
Yesterday Jacques Kelly wrote a second column on foods that are no longer available. Most of them were before my time, but I was pleased to see he included a "replica" of Marconi's famous chocolate sauce for ice cream. I've had several readers write me and ask for the original recipe; maybe I can placate them with this one.

I love Jacques columns. He really captures "old Baltimore".
I really miss Silbers!

I read Jacques Kelly's column faithfully. Much of this week's was before my time, but it was still good reading. Things I miss most are Silber's mini fruit cakes, College Bakery's shatteringly crisp sugar cookies, Hochschild's, Hutzler's, and Read's lunch rooms. There are two restaurants I miss terribly: Yorkshire (York & Belvedere) and Westwood (Maryland & 22nd). Both were one-of-a-kind and irreplaceable. Sigh ... .
