The best food-related Halloween costume ever

The discussion on how best to dress up as Gluttony reminded me of the best food-related Halloween costume I ever saw. Costumes, really. I wish I had a picture.

I was sitting at my desk at work one Halloween and suddenly a group from another department appeared dressed in full costume as the California raisins. They had Martha and the Vandellas blasting out "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" on a portable cassette player, and they danced their way through the features department and then disappeared.

Top that.

Not sure if Martha Reeves ever covered that song!!!

Here you go. EL

Wish I'd been there to see that! That takes the prize for best food-related group, with musical accompaniment, without a doubt.

All I can offer is my own personal favorite. A boy about 11 years old appeared at my door with tire tracks running diagonally across his sweatshirt. I asked him what he was supposed to be and he jerked his head to one side (showing more tire tracks) and said, "Roadkill."

I miss trick-or-treaters. We don't get not-a-one in the country.

Scary thing...I did this exact thing (well, there were only two of us) at a party about 25 years ago. Wore trash bags to make us look like raisins...we used the Marvin Gaye version!

Senior year at college my roommate went out as a "fudge-em." If you don't recall what I'm talking about, fudge-em's were a limited offer Dominos desert. They had these funny advertisements of little brownie squares saying "fudge-ems!" and being all happy and hugging people.

So my friend dressed in all brown and then painted a box brown and wore it. Only the paint was still wet when we went out, so he would hug people and yell "fudge-ems!" and when he released the recipients of the hugs they were covered in sticky brown paint. He ruined a lot of peoples costumes, it was hilarious.

My favorite is the "Cereal Killer".

You attach a bunch of those mini single serving cereal boxes to a white shirt, cut a slit in the boxes, glue in plastic knives into the holes, and apply a little fake blood to each box.

with Halloween this weekend, why not have posters send in food-related costume pictures to you and have a Top 10 the following Tuesday....hilarity ensues!

I'm willing, but they have to be food-related. EL
