Vote for You Don't Say

Don't forget to vote for our friend John McIntyre's blog You Don't Say in the Mobbies. It's now eligible because it's no longer a Sun blog, and you can vote once a day.

It's in the Misfits category. Hahaha. He worked so hard to keep us on the straight and narrow when he was here.

I went to the Mobbie site this am after reading Johns pathetic plea and voted for him of course but I'm not sure it counted.

Why is yet another registration required for this purpose? My hype sense kicked in and I closed the window.

In general... why can't the Sun sort out this registration/recognition of users in one seamless streamlined database??

I tried to vote but my sign-in was rejected!

I'm telling Multimedia Editor(ish) Mary right now. EL

MrRational, we're working toward a universal log-in for the site, but it's easier said than done. We use many different vendors for different functions (like here, for example, Elizabeth writes in Moveable Type, which is not what our stories are published in). We do recognize it's a problem, though, and are trying for a solution.

As for the Mobbies, using registration helps us prevent "gaming" of the votes and ties together the back end in several key ways.

LEC, can you tell me more about your sign-in being rejected? You can e-mail me at mary.hartney@baltsun.com if you're so inclined.

About this blog
Richard Gorelick was appointed The Baltimore Sun's restaurant critic in September 2010. Before joining the paper staff fulltime, he contributed freelance criticism and features articles about food to area and regional publications. Along the way, he dispatched for short-distance trucking companies, shilled for cultural non-profits, and assisted in cognitive neurology research – never the subject, always the control.

He takes restaurants seriously but not himself, and his favorite restaurant is the one you love, too.
