Richard reviews El Guapito

ElGuapito.jpgIn the same week that El Guapito won Best Mexican in City Paper's Best of Baltimore issue, Other Reviewer Richard's review appeared in today's paper.

I have no doubt that Richard's description of his meal is very accurate, and he clearly bent over backwards to be kind.

But feel free to tell us about your experience if it was different.

Thanks Richard, You are still my favorite food journalist. Never pulling any punches
and leaving out the usual politics.

....An old friend from Whole Foods.

anyone know how these tacos compare to the ones at Tortilleria Sinaloa in fells?

ryan97ou, I like Sinaloa better, but El Guapito isn't bad at all, it is a pleasant room to eat in, and is one of the few reasonably priced (along with Bouillabaisse Cafe around the corner) places around the Central Library.

nice to hear lissa. thanks.

kind of hard to compete with sinaloa, but at least this place is much close to where i live. i plan on eating there soon, and will report back with my thoughts.

i was finally able to give this joint a try and must say i was pretty impressed. I agree with lissa that tortilleria sinaloa is slightly better but not by much. plus the menu is much bigger than sinaloa.

if you don't feel like driving all the way to fells i would say this is a great option.

Glad you enjoyed your meal, ryan97ou. It is a charming little place. I have better Mexican down the street, but El Guapito makes pretty authentic Mexican food inexpensively accessible to Anglos, in a cute room.
