Next Sunday's review: Alizee
The changes at Alizee in the Inn at the Colonnade have been so major I decided to go see for myself, even though it was reviewed recently. Other Reviewer Richard was there not so long ago when it had a different chef, different owners, a different kind of cusine and a different menu.
The new chef, Christian deLutis, was at the Wine Market in Locust Point and helped make it the success it is. I'll be interested to see what he can do for Alizee. ...
I have to say I was surprised by our meal there. In my head I expected the evening to go a certain way, and it didn't end up being what I expected at all.
Now that I've got your attention, please look for my review in next Sunday's Arts & Entertainment section.

Has anyone else been there yet? Im kind of glad its getting reviewed.. I don't want to be the first one to dive in, and didnt expect a review so quickly. I tried asking the chowhound and got no responses.

Fingers crossed, EL--it's time that space found a winning combination.

No prices on their website=no business from me (that is one of the things that drives me crazy)

It's Me makes a valid point. In this economic climate, what sense does it make for a restaurant -- especially a new one like Alizee -- to post the menu on its website without prices? Unless money is no object, quite a few people will have the same reaction, 'sounds interesting, wonder how expensive it is, maybe I'll go somewhere else.' Not exactly smart marketing.

I think when we called them a week ago or so, the apps are like $12ish and the entrees like $25ish.
Hopefully its just an oversight in their web design.

Many thanks for your interest and feedback about prices. Prices change on menus and nothing makes guests angrier than a posted web site menu having different prices and items from the restaurant menu... That being said, your point is well taken and we will go back to the priced menu with the disclaimer "prices subject to change" on the web site.
dinner apps: $7 to $15
dinner entrees: mostly mid $20s, from $20 - 32
lite fare: (available in the dining room) $10 - 20
lunch: mostly $10, from $6 to $17
breakfast: $10
brunch prix fixe: $20 and $30 with endless mimosas and bloody marys
Looking forward to the review!

We celebrated a special event this past weekend at Alizee and found the food to be exceptional! We are planning to go back again soon to ring in our birthdays.

Knowing the team they have in there now, I imagine the food will be worth a look-see. They've been there about a month and I planning on checking it out soon.

Had the oysters...Best in Baltimore! The grouper special was also fabulous. A great dinning experience. I highly recommend it.

Just as a clarification, Chef deLutis was the third chef at The Wine Market and was not there when the restaurant opened.
Thanks. EL
