Lunch before apple picking

ApplePicking.JPG

Susan Reimer just sent me a plea, but I couldn't help her. I've never even heard of New Park, Pa. Anyone have any suggestions?

Have to do an apple-picking travel story for Michelle [the travel editor] and I need a cute/nice place to have lunch on a Sunday near New Park, Pa. or on the way...it's up 83 and then some...

It's just over the MD./PA. line, east of Stewartstown. Not far enough north to recommend the Quarryville Family Restaurant.

Shaws Orchards has pick your own apples right on the md/pa line not right off of 83 but close, i don't PYO but do go pretty much every weekend from june through end of apple season www.shawsorchard.com

The New Freedom Cafe off of the old trail is good.

Thanks to the DL reader who suggested the New Freedom RR Cafe for lunch on our way to apple pick at Maple Lawn Farms in New Park, Pa. It wasn't far off the path to the orchard and it was a darling renovated station house cafe, with a sweet waitress and real, honest-to-goodness ham on the sandwiches.
