'Carryout' and 'advice to restaurants' neck-and-neck

No live chat today, obviously, because that would be too laborious. But I want to remind you to vote on what the subject should be next Monday if you haven't already. Click here to get to the poll.

The problem with having the poll embedded in the main blog is that it disappears after a few other posts. I'm hoping our tech goddess Lauren (I actually address her as "O Tech Goddess" when I e-mail her requests) will be able to give us a box to the right of the main page so a poll is always there.

Will you please add another email to Lauren and ask her to fix the "post a comment" screen?

Once upon a time it remembered the personal info of a previous poster and would even do so across the several Sun sponsored blogs; now it doesn't and hasn't for quite a while.

Also using "anonymous" as a default has become silly.

Having to re-enter the info on every post is needlessly annoying.

Thanks.

I'm not having a problem--I just type in "D" and autofill does the rest. Oh--and my verification letter is "d"!

Dahlink, your web browser is doing that. What MrRational is talking about is the cookie that used to set all your information for you, so no typing was necessary outside of the comment box. This has been broken since the latest "redesign" that made the Sun website look like every other Tribune website.

I bow to your superior geekitude, Lisa--but I don't think I ever had what you describe!

MrRational (and I am thinking about yesterday's Doonsbury!) and Lissa speak for me too.

So how lazy does that make me, that I get annoyed by, what, an extra 15 keystrokes?!

Canon makes a good point. While I was very annoyed by the "non-memory" at first, I've gotten so that I quickly type in the needed info without hardly thinking about it.

I guess its just my browser but I only have to hit the first letter of each and options pop up which when clicked, fill in the space

I dunno Bud... can you think of any problems with the way it is?

Point to Bud J

It's good to have options.

I'm glad I'm not the only one around here who talks to myself

What Mr. Rational said....

My first choice for live chat (sub shops, since my favorite one is dead) seems to have been overridden, so my second choice is carryouts.

Bourbon Girl ??

Whats up with that??
That wasn't me...(the 2nd one)Hum??

I've noticed that if you check the "Remember personal info?" box with your first post it will "remember" your name when you type the first letter for you current session. It does, however, always remember my Email address. Oh, the vagaries of computers.

Richard Gorelick was appointed The Baltimore Sun's restaurant critic in September 2010. Before joining the paper staff fulltime, he contributed freelance criticism and features articles about food to area and regional publications. He takes restaurants seriously but not himself, and his favorite restaurant is the one you love, too.
