Burger alert!

Chowhound1.JPG

The Kooper's Tavern Chowhound burger truck is parked just above the Sun garage at Calvert and Monument streets at the moment.

It's my lead item in tomorrow's Table Talk column; and now the truck has come to me, so to speak, so I could experience one of the burgers without going very far. (Although they didn't realize they were doing that.)

Unfortunately I've already eaten lunch. But if you haven't, the truck will be there until around 3 or 4 p.m., they told me.

If you do stop by, let us know how the burger (and the experience) was.

Yellow cheese...pickle chips, not a spear...it looks pretty good from here. Is the bun toasted?

They may have parked near The Sun for good reason;)

Hey, Bucky-- it looks like it has BACON!!!!

Yum - it does, indeed, and that would, of course, give it extra points.

Did you notice if they had veggie burgers??

Don, looks like they have beef, turkey, veggie and bison!

Here's the menu.

Send the Burger truck out to Woodlawn!

I'd love to see it out here in Alexandria. I haven't had bison in forever. At least I ate at 5 Guys yesterday so the burger cravings are at least manageable.

I love cheeseburger talk.

I had the bacon cheeseburger last week when they were near my office. Angus beef, cheddar, applewood smoked bacon. Absolutely fantastalicious! I think I heard angels sing.

And the guys were great, friendly and professional, despite dealing with very brisk business. It was the best burger ever within walking distance of the office, and one of the best ever period. I think I'm in love.

Matt K, many Giant food stores carry 1-pound packs of ground bison for less than $5. No reason not to have a bison burger at home if you can't find it in a restaurant. If you strike out at Giant, Google Gunpowder Bison & Trading Co., and they'll ship it to you.

Baltimore is already capitalizing on the gourmet food truck trend? I'm pleasantly surprised!

Dottie, I am afraid you have misspoke. Matt K can make the trip to Wegmans in Fairfax.
They sell Ground Bison there. No need to have ANYTHING shipped. Much less meat..

And I Love Koopers Bacon Cheeseburgers..Charlie Brown all the way baby!!!!

Dottie has a great point though. Save the trip to Wegmans and support your local farmers. BTW, the bison that Koopers uses on the ChowHound is from Gunpowder Bison and Trading!

Dottie didn't misspeak. Giant and Super Fresh in Timonium both sell ground Bison. Giant is cheaper by 50+ cents. But when I am in the Monkton area, I alway stop at Bison and Trading.

Is it just me, or am I the only person who wants to order a veggie burger with bacon and then watch the perplexed looks?

Oh, that is a good one JackInEC!

If I remember correctly, Elizabeth's husband once ordered a garden burger with bacon.

Yes! I want to give him full credit. EL

Many years ago, I was dining with friends at The Speakeasy. When the server came over, she introduced herself and asked us to be patient because she was new. I ordered the strip steak, and proceeded to tell the server that I wanted it cooked extra extra well done with 2 x's(yeah, I know)and that I had never sent a steak back because it was overcooked.
When she asked if we wanted appetizers, I asked if the black bean soup had meat in it because I was a vegetarian.

i selected the bison burger a bit ago; they've def got something going on here but this was terrible
