The Comment of the Week

I was vaguely uneasy about the direction the conversation was taking under the Anthony Bourdain post. I always get a little uncomfortable when regulars get into discussions that are almost arguments, and I could see how this one could get ugly. Especially as I was absolutely convinced of the basic good spirit of everyone involved.

Then this got posted, and everyone seemed to come to their senses: ...

Even a cranky old white formerly-suburban PTA Lady can tell the difference between Urban Poor and Skanky Ho. True, nice people do not say skanky ho, but pretty much everyone knows one when they see it.

I also have to give honorable mention to Lissa's comment after I had cleaned up the coding of a post and I missed a</br>, which for some reason made the whole rail on the right hand of the page disappear. Usually I'm more on top of such things, but not when I'm on vacation. And you can imagine how pleased my bosses would be that I made all the ads disappear. Her post simply said:

Has the sidebar gone on vacation, too?

I got to laughing so hard I could hardly fix it.

the sidebar comment was funny. We really are a cognizant bunch.

I was in Little Italy tonight, and there were tourists taking photos in front of Mo's Seafood Factory.

The tourists were out in force today. One pointed at me, and said to their toddler, "Look at the canoe!"

It. Is. A. Kayak. Double ended paddle. It has a deck. This isn't like trying to tell the difference between an oyster boat and a schooner. It is easy.

*headdesk*

The Red Sox are in town this weekend, so all the Massholes have descended on Baltimore.

"Massholes" LOL that is what I thought of Baltimorians when I moved here. Boston was one of my favorite cities out of the 8 cities I have had the pleasure of living in Boston was one of the best. Houston and Baltimore always at the bottom!

Nice to see recognition of our well-loved regular posters, Eve and Lissa.

Hey! I resemble that remark, RoCK! I lived in Massachusetts for 10 years, one of those in Boston.

Great city, Boston. Lots to do, very walkable. Just too danged humid in the summer.

Wait a second...

Jumpin' Jehosephats. It's been a couple of days since Eve has reminded me of how craptastic I am. Jeez, now I have to experience it in reruns? Is it not enough that my own grandmother refuses to make bacon for me anymore in an effort to spank the skank-talk out of my pie hole?

Hey, look, the original Avengers is on TV. Oooooo, I'm gonna get me an eye-slice of that Emma Peel. Smachna.

RoCK, just be patient until August 31, when the Yankees (and their fans) descend on Oriole Park.

I've been to Boston once, but I loved it. I've been to New York many times, and it's always fun. That being said, I have a hard to reconciling that these great cities are filled with obnoxious and insufferable Red Sox and Yankee fans.

RoCK,
I'm guessing most of the obnoxious fans aren't coming from Manhattan.

I've been to Boston as well, and enjoyed my trip. Well, except for the hotel I stayed in, Le Meridien. Room was too small and too French. Since I was up there for work, I had to stay there.

too French

What can you mean?

too French?

Maybe the shower only works on Saturday nights.

Maybe the staff is no where to be found in August.

Maybe if a German wants your room you have to give it him.

I meant that the decorations were like those you might have found in Napoleon's time. A bit on the gaudy side for my taste.
And the hotel staff was French, efficient but not very pleasant. Plus, they kept charging me a garage fee every day and I had no car up there.

RoCK! Maybe... That's the hardest I've laughed on this blog in a long time. And still. I can hardly type.
