Announcing the Unsung Commenter Award

I've decided to give out an Unsung Commenter Award, perhaps as early as tomorrow. This will go to someone who has been incredibly loyal to Dining@Large but doesn't get the recognition he or she deserves because he or she isn't a guest poster or didn't happen to make the 10,000th comment or whatever.

A small token of my gratitude will be awarded.

I nominate Trixie.
Please do us all a favor,EL, and not give it to Lissa.

She's out of the running. She was the 50,000th commenter. EL

I nominate Cal Ripken.

Didn't know he was loyal to your blog, did you?

Please do us all a favor,EL, and not give it to Springs1.

Oh the anxiety! I wonder if it will be RayRay for his unwavering commitment to scenting his on-topic comments with hints of humor and witticism.

I feel like there should be a betting pool on this. Or, you could hand out fake awards in made-up categories, then people could post their fake acceptance speeches. It would be like a fake awards show only, you know, timely and funny.

I like it. :-) EL

Two weeks after I start writing a guest post, and now this new award shows up that I am not eligible to win.

Fix! Fix!

You would definitely have won it otherwise. :-) EL

NickinEC, I get far more credit than I deserve.

I can think of so many who deserve this. Perhaps it should be quarterly? There are at least enough people now to cover the next 5 years.

I like the betting pool, matt!

I like Matt's idea too.

I nminate Dahlink!

I nominate Elizabeth Large

Agreed, Corey. She's having a wonderful second career as a psych aide, isn't she?

I nominate me! *grin* Hey, I stood up and said G&M's crabcakes are not all the hulabaloo puts them up to be. Then everyone else jumped on the bandwagon.

Brave and possibly brash, still searching for a cheese shop!

EL, the postman just dropped off my prize, and it is by no means a "small token" of gratitude. Folks, I won the Oxford Companion to American Food and Drink, and it is a weighty tome indeed. I may be able to give hmpstd a run for his money when it comes to food trivia now. Best of all, however, was the mailing label, addressed in Elizabeth Large's very own beautiful calligraphic handwriting--this gets framed! Thanks again.

My pleasure. EL

Awesome, Dahlink! You can do reference duty now, too.

Could we see a sample of this famous handwriting? Everybody who sees it comments on it.

Before joining the paper staff fulltime, he contributed freelance criticism and features articles about food to area and regional publications. He takes restaurants seriously but not himself, and his favorite restaurant is the one you love, too.
