Richard reviews Harbor Que

HarborQueQue.jpgI'm sure Other Reviewer Richard's review of Harbor Que will create a storm of controversy. I knew that before I even read it. Why? Because it's about barbecue, of course.

My heart sank when I saw what restaurant he wrote about this week. After Tex-Mex Tuesday I was kind of hoping for a tearoom or something.

As usual he's thoughtful, fair and stern but kind. And now, Richard, it's time to hide out for a week.

I can't get it out of my head that it is pronounced "harbork" and then I think of the Swedish chef from the Muppets and then I just drift off into bork-bork land.

I haven't read the review yet but the photo of that mess in a plastic tray doesn't bode well.

bork

Oops. Spoke too soon. Still not sure what the food in the photo is. Nachos?

I have had food from there twice. The first time, I didn't like it at all. Bland and blah and served on a squishy bun. The second time, I had ribs that were delish!

I wonder if it has to do with who is cooking that night as to the quality of the food.

Bork.

letter verification: Q

Terrier GIrl, the Harbor Que website menu includes "Carolina Nachos", which may be what's in the photo. Has anybody had them yet?

Any idea where Anthony Bourdain will be trying when in town next week?

I think Anthony Bourdain filmed some time over the winter. I sort of remember hearing that he went to Mo's? or someplace similar.

Yup:

I don't have cable anymore, but I really really really hope I don't show up in the train station shot. Really.

If they're nachos they have an insane topping to chip ratio. Probably delish.

Gorelick in a tearoom. Hmmm. Not seein' it.

I remember HarBork from "awhile" ago. (Couple weeks? Six months? Details, details.) Did EL review them that recently or did she just announce their opening and then we did pronunciation and BBQ drift.

Here's what matters to me: How do they stack up against Big Bad Wolf?

How about Gorelick and Bourdain in a tea room?

Eve... My chef friend went to Harborque and had a couple of things ther. Over the July 4th weekend, I took him to Big Bad Wolf (Bryn Blydd Drwg in Welsh - the only phrase I picked up living there.). He loved BBW and thought it was way better than Harborque... although Harbork is much closer to where we live.

Why am I thinking about long-ago hearings for the Supreme Court? Oh, yeah--Bork!

I had a pulled pork sandwich w/ sides of mac & cheese and slaw. The sandwich was terrible! It tasted like the meat was cooked in water. It was so bad that I have to tell the world. First time I have ever done this. Mac & cheese was so salty that it was hardly edible.
