A close encounter of the odd kind

I had a surprising thing happen today. When I went to the gym and held out my card to have the bar code scanned, the person behind the desk -- someone I had never seen before -- looked at my information on the computer screen and said, "Hi, EL. I'm Piano Rob." ...

He went on to say his computer had been attacked by a virus and he had never gotten around to dealing with it. In other words, he didn't disappear; his computer did.

He then said, "Hello and goodbye. I'm moving back to Milwaukee. Tell everyone I really enjoyed my time with them on the blog."

OK, that was weird.

Funny how people who learn your identity "leave" town.

And its a small world.

Wow!

Glad to know he's alive and hopefully well.

I miss Piano Rob. He's cool cat. And a founding member of the League of Roberts. Long live Piano Rob!

Hope if Piano Rob gets on the net in Milwaukee, he'll drop in and visit.

Glad to hear that all's ok with him!

Great comment, TG! Made me laugh!

I'm glad he's doing well, and hope he enjoys Milwaukee.

Being in the land of beer and brats doesn't mean he couldn't drop by.

Speaking of D@L Community, or Sandbox if you will, I'm trying to get a group of us together for a dim sum lunch this Saturday at noon at the Asian Court in Ellicott City.

I thought EL was a stage name!

I hope he stays in touch with D@L.

Hell, it ain't hard, I do and I didn't even join the gang here much less the League of Roberts after I had already moved to the World's Most Beautiful Beaches.

He'll be back, after all, once Baltimore gets in your blood, it never leaves.

Take care, Piano Rob!

We'll see you up nort dere, Robby, aina hey?

Well, if he's working in a gym, I hope that means he's quit smoking. Take care, Piano Rob!

Dahlink, smoking has nothing to do with exercise. I used to swim miles a day while smoking 2 packs a day of Camel straights. Well, not while I was swimming. Not even a Zippo works underwater.

When I stopped smoking (*mutter*), it got hard to breath. I'm not convinced clean air is entirely healthy.

The best place for a dog in the Baltimore area bar none is Kauffmans in Essex. Ask for the regular - its a chili dog with mustard and onions and it is amazing, if I was every contemplating committing a crime I would think about how that chili dog is not allowed in prison and it would stop me. Its that powerful.

I've wondered what ever happened to Piano Rob. I've missed him. I hope things work out for him in the Frozen North.

Hello to all in the Sandbox. I have missed the camaraderie and banter and sharing of wisdom. Once I am completely settled back in my native land - and once my puter is cured - I shall return. Thanks for all of the kind thoughts and words. Dahlink: Unfortunately I haven't quit the tobacco yet but I'm way down in consumption thanks to threats from my personal trainer. JL: Look me up when you get back to MKE. EL: "Weird" - or "Kismet"? LOL! I'm thrilled to know that the League of Roberts is alive and kicking. Think of me as I navigate my Budget rental truck west on Saturday.

Best Wishes for a safe trip Piano Rob!

Well it looks like D@L is opening up an office in Milwaukee. Maybe he can look for Cheese Girl. She seems to have retreated to her cheese cave, never to return. Good luck Rob.

Safe trip, Piano Rob.

Ditto on all of the above best wishes, Piano Rob! (No Rush Limbaugh reference intended, of course.)

Milwaukee ... for whatever reason, the Episcopal Church has never had a national meeting there of any importance. Ergo, I have never been. Piano Rob -- report back please. I bet it's one of those burgs with wonderful old buildings and discreet charm. Plus beer!

Milwaukee has never been an Episcopal kind of place. Lutheran, you bet. Catholic, sure.

Still, BAC, I think you should point out this surely unwitting omission to the Powers That Be. Even a canon can go for a beer and a brat.

Piano Rob: have a safe trip, and remember, we are saving a seat for you in the Sandbox.
Hope to hear from you soon!

Piano Rob, all the best for a great future in Milwaukee! Be safe on the road, and check in with the Sandbox when you're settled and the durn puter's fixed.

Hello, Sandboxers. I snagged some free puter time at the downtown library. The move was uneventful; I found a lovely flat in which to live. Milwaukee is still beautiful and nowhere near as humid as Bmore. I've been pounding the streets looking for gainful employment. I had a great breakfast at George Webb's. Hopefully my puter will be running and healed after this weekend. Best to you all!

Glad the move was uneventful. Good luck finding a job, and welcome back!
