Steamed crab deals
I admit to being on the lookout for some easy Top 10s for the next few weeks because I'll be on vacation for a week at the end of the month and have a lot going on before then, like my road trip. However, next week's Top 10, of course, will have to be beach-centric. Anyway, I got the following inquiry, which seems to me to be the basis of a good Top 10 if only there were 10 of them.
I can think of one: Ryleigh's Oyster has $2 steamed crabs on Tuesdays. Now you come up with nine others, please.
The e-mail from Glenn: ...
I have been searching for a good 'Dollar Crab, Dollar Beer' (actual values may vary of course .. inflation and all, hehe) place for the past couple of years. I used to go to the Admirals Cup in Fells Point, but alas they are no longer open for business. I have been unsuccessful in my many attempts at physically and internet-ally searching. I was hoping that you could point me to either a list, or just give a suggestion of a place near the Fells Point area.
To tie this all together, maybe a Top 10 'Crab Deals' or something along those lines would make for a good post?

So, the solution to being crabby this week is to go to the beach next week?

Captain Dan's in Eldersburg has dollar crab night(s) but I'm not sure when they are. If my memory serves me correctly (it usually doesn't) it's M-W...maybe...
Also, Blue Point has a carryout deal during something like M-W that is an extra 6 crabs with every dozen.
I'm a regular fountain of info today, aren't I?

Two places that have $1. crabs on Tuesdays:
Conrads, E.Joppa Rd, Parkville
Bill's Seafood, Bel Air Rd, Perry Hall
Conrad's are great! Bill's, I believe, also advertizes them for Thursday.

Brenda, Honey, even though the software appears not to be working and you don't get the confirmation screen (awaiting approval) that the other Sun blogs have, you really only need to hit Post once.
(We've all multi-posted. It's a rite of passage.)

Dock of the Bay and White Swan, both in Miller's Island. They have had the special for several years, so I guess it is still going on this year. Tuesday and Thursday dollar crabs and some app and drink specials. The crabs always sell out quick on these days so it is best to get there early.

Sorry, I did not think Brenda was shilling at all! EL is asking our opinion on where to get good deals...
I posted this on another topic, but I saw Shoppers Warehouse advertising steamed crabs. $1.75 for one crab, and I think $30/dozen. Not knocking Shoppers, but that just does not seem right to me. Steamed shrimp, king crab legs, etc. I can see. Probably cause I know they are already frozen when delivered. But steamed crabs?
Plus what's the point of making me have to take the time to kill out 11 comments by continuing to hit the post button? EL

Yet to see if they bring it back, but Taps in South Baltimore had $1 crabs every Sunday last summer.
I've never been in, but the Castle Restaurant in Brooklyn reopened recently and are advertising $1 crabs.
Has anyone ever ventured in there?

Hue, the $2 crabs at Ryleighs are pretty decent. They're small, but for the price they're darned good.

Doesn't Captain James crab deck (across from the ship restaurant on Boston) have an all-you-can-eat crabs deal on Wednesday's? I've never been but heard about it last year. Anyone here ever been?

Riptides by the Bay in Fells Point has $2 crabs on Wed night.

I've only been to Captain James for crabs on an "all you can afford" basis, but they offer all you can eat crabs Mon-Thurs from 5-9 pm.

Vince's seafood on Compass Rd on Middle River has $1.00 crabs on Wednesdays. Had them last week, a little small but mighty tasty!

The vast majority ofthese so--called crab deals consist of timy, and often day(s) old crabs that were already cooked a day or so in advance and then re-heated. Re-heated crabs taste nasty and smell even worse.
I typically stay away from these gimmicks and choose to fork over the money to get consistent big, solid, and meaty crabs at either Bill's, Costas, or seaside. They might be a bit expensive, but I'd rather pay the money for top quality, I've never had a bad crab at either place.
