EL -- I hope you're talking about their old space in the high rise at 28 Allegheny Avenue, rather than the place across the street to which they relocated, at 31 Allegheny Avenue?

Yes. It says old. EL

A Quiznos is also opening on the corner in The Penthouse

Does anyone know whether or not the Stoney River Legendary Steak House that is slated to open in the new luxury wing of the Townson Towne Center mall is in fact going to open? It would be a good fit for Towson and with all of the other decent restaurants closing south of Joppa Rd. I am sure that it would do well. I went by there the other day and the sign was still there but there was no building activity going on inside the space. I would think that they would want to open for the summer season.

Thanks, EL! (I know you said "old", but with restaurant closings coming fast and furious these days, I just wanted to be sure I hadn't missed an announcement about Troia shutting its new location.)

And I think it's just as well to emphasize that the new Troia is still around. EL

Hugh -- there was a sign that said Stoney River opening this spring. The last time I saw the sign was over a month ago. The building looks dead to me. Maybe its now a no-go?

Hugh and BaltBabs -- the websites for both Towson Town Center and Stoney River state that the Towson branch is "coming soon", so who knows when it might open? (Towson Town Center's website still indicates a "Grand Opening [in] 2009".)

Thanks BaltBabs, I am wondering whether the fact that GGP the owner of the mall is in financial straights at the moment has had anything to do with it? But I do know that some of the other stores that where scheduled to open after the new wing opend last fall have indeed opened now. I have not read anything in the press about Stoney River pulling out or anything.

Stoney River Legendary Steaks is now under construction and will open late Fall 2009. Thanks for the interest.

Thank you Jessica, I will look forward to trying it after it opens. Goodness knows that Towson could do with a good upscale family oriented restaurant like Stoney River Legendary Steaks and I am sure the place will be mobbed when it opens.

Sniff..sniff...does anyone smell shill?

does anyone smell shill

Goodness knows What gave it away?

I doubt that a shill would be flogging a place that hasn't opened yet, and that won't open for another six months or so (assuming that it ever does open). Life, and people's attention spans, are way too short for that.

Now, now don't be shilly. I merely asked a perfectly reasonable question and got a response. I happen to like steak houses and Towson would be a convenient location for me.

I don't think Ms. Bloom was shilling. But perhaps she could have identified herself as to her connection with the place.

PCB Rob -- I assumed that the shill comments were aimed at Hugh (who made repeated posts about the steakhouse). Ms. Bloom's role as a PR flack for either the steakhouse or the mall seemed (at least from my perspective) to be a given, and she managed to post a single concise reply without having to resort to excessive laudatory adjectives.

This IS a food blog. If someone wants to post a comment that may be a little PRish so be it.

The International Steak and Seafood sign at the old Troias Allegheny Ave. Anyone know anything about International Steak & Seafood. The plastic pepsi sign advertising its comming soon might inndicate that its fast food? Is that right?
