Closing of the Hour: Neo Viccino

NeoViccino.jpg

I can't keep up.

I just read about Neo Viccino's closing on Chowhound. I called the restaurant to confirm, and was told it's true. It will reopen as a sports bar.

I hope those concert goers like jalapeno poppers before a performance.

More later. I was told to call back for details after the lunch rush.

What was shocking was the OpenTable Neighborhood Gem award this place received. The truth has finally hit the fan for NV, looks like. I hope the sports bar and forthcoming renovations go well. It seems like that space could definitely work if it taps into the right crowd.

Closing:
Meiklejohn's Restaurant & Pub 1438 Liberty Rd, Sykesville.
Not exactly a magnet for the City Set, Meiklejohn's was a serviceable example of the common (nominal sports bar/nominal Irish pub) tavern that archaeologists will ponder over centuries from now, probably believing them to be temples of municipal penates and lares at which worshipers sacrificed their arteries and were repaid with flat-screen images distorted by annoyingly skewed aspect ratios. It's interior decor said, "give me a second look". It's kitchen said "gimme another Bud."
RIP

Because of the ignorant way that I was treated by the arrogant owner of Meiklejohn's when trying to book my partner's band, I only have to say "happy happy joy joy!".

Besides, right next door? Buffalo Wings and Beer! Need I say more??
