Alive and well in Savannah
![]()
Alive, maybe. Well, not so much. The plane landed at 1 a.m. and I got to bed at 2, which faithful readers know is closer to when I usually get up than when I go to bed. However, here I am in this beautiful city and the sun is shining.
I didn't forget you, though, and the fact that sometimes it's hard to find Table Talk on the Web site so I should link to it. ...
Today's TT covers ground that we've covered here before, but in a bit more detail.
I talk about the new Coal Fire Pizza in Ellicott City, and about the fact that Cynthia's in Severna Park closed. So about all that's new would be the Deal of the Week.
No, that's not true. I do give you a little news about the new Maisy's.
I'll also direct you the Top 10 from last Tuesday printed into today's paper because it's always interesting to see what comments they end up using.

I always liked Copra and I am looking forward to the opening of Maisy's.

Sounds like time for a nap in the sun.

Wow, I made the print edition!
That pizza looks pretty tasty too.

Nice ad for Coal Fire Pizza. Do restaurants pay to get into Table Talk? I wish I would have taken a picture of my pizza from there with the eight little dabs of sausage on a 12" pizza. I would call that picture false advertising.
Good grief. What a nasty thing to say to me. I expect it from the drop-ins, but not the regulars. Why is everyone so cranky today? EL

News is about new things, hence the name. And the article, if you read it, explained that they limit the toppings to ensure thorough. If you think that's a con so be it, but do not blame our fearless leader for reporting what's new. It ain't commentary.

EL,
I'M not cranky. Although I should be what with the ant encrusted doughnuts and rodent heads rolling around the floor.:-)

EL,
I think that everyone's spirits will lift if and when the sun ever comes back. Even I'm getting a little tired of the gloomy days.
BTW- It was just the rodent heads rolling around the floor, not the ant encrusted doughnuts.

This made me laugh out loud at my desk. (Bucky's probably already read it.)
Posted by: Eve | May 6, 2009 2:43 PM
RayRay, I wasn't trying to snark you! Sorry if you took it that way. I was really just joking!
EL, remember, we're still sun deprived!

Cranky? I for one am in an awesome happy mood. Ha! Take that grumps. I smote you with my nirvana katana.

Eve - I had not seen that. Andy Green is surely a doofus. (Not cranky, just sayin'.)
Posted by: Bucky | May 6, 2009 2:58 PM
I'm waiting for our Shallow Thought.
Posted by: Eve | May 6, 2009 3:04 PM
Nirvana katana? Can I fight back with my jo of...um...junk? Justice? Jam?
I'm cranky until my headache goes away. I want sun, too.
Maybe it is time for another homemade chocolate chip cookie. Even if I didn't put enough vanilla in.

Joyce W.,
No No No I did not feel snarked! In fact I've been lol ing ( Is that a word?) all day. I was just making a joke about the joke that you made about the joke that I made. Now I'm really lost. :-)

As I talked about in an earlier post I have eaten pizza from coal fired ovens many times. I understand the restriction of toppings. I don't understand eight pinches of sausage on a 12" for pizza for $2.00. If you are restricting the quantity then restrict the price. Does that picture look like the toppings are minimized? Does that picture look anything like the pizza I was served? No.
I am cranky about Coal Fire Pizza because I wanted so much for it to a good place. I was ready for great pizza in a place close to home with parking. A place I can get to without battling 695 traffic. But it was not to be. And the wings aren't anything special either.

Actually, Bucky, I assumed you'd read the mustard blog because I got that blog confused with Toy Department, which can be very funny when it departs from it's sports theme.

There's a great coal fired pizza place in downtown Philly--Pietro's. Possibly the best pizza I have ever had.

RayRay, no harm done - it's the problem with the written word not always coming across the way it's intended. Just wanted to make sure I didn't accidently snark you!

There's a good coal fired pizza place in Baltimore called Joe Squared. It's just hard to get to from Owings Mills on a weeknight and parking is a problem on weekends. Plus they are not open for lunch on Saturday and Sunday. And did I mention I can't parallel park.

I've got to stop working so hard and pay more attention to this blog.
Eve! Mwuh mwuaaah!

That picture doesn't look so appealin gto me. Not sure why.

Lissa,
The trick to getting enough vanilla in your chocolate chip cookies is to use double-strength vanilla. Really gets the flavor going.
Posted by: Retired in Elkridge | May 6, 2009 6:19 PM
Yep, RiE, I usually do. The only sugar I had on hand was vanilla sugar (homemade, natch), and I wasn't sure if I should add more vanilla.
The answer was yes. And I chopped the nuts too small. But, bad homemade chocolate chip cookies are still a thing of beauty. For a short period of time.

Well, look at how the Editorial Page is all about food opinions now. First the mail order wines and now condiments. I don't know if this good or bad. It is probably good for the Sun's numbers, but bad for the future of the Republic.

The editorial page looks over and sees how lively it is over in the Sandbox, and wants to get a piece of the action.
Long Live the Sandbox!

EL.... Speaking of pizza, hit Vinnie Van Go Go's in City Market while you are in Savannah!
I'll look for it, but I don't have a car here. EL

Brunch @ Chez RayRay Sunday featuring doughnuts with "sprinkles".

The sandboxers are invading the blogs. They're on the Mommy Blog, The Doggy Blog, The Party Blog, The Ivy Blog, The Hwy Blog, and The Whiny Blog. OK That last one was a little snarky, but it was the only word that I could think of that ended in Y. Besides, I didn't say which blog was whiny so....Besides most of the blogs get a little whiny every now and then.:-)
Posted by: RayRay | May 7, 2009 10:05 AM
Definition of irony: I hate the term sandbox and yet the only real photo of me on the internet is in a .... sandbox.

Here comes the sun do do do do
Let the sun shine
In the sunshine of your love
I'm walkin' on sunshine and don't it feel good.:-) :-)

We may be able to take over a lot of the blogs, but there are a few that we will never be able to invade. The Inside Ed blog is pretty much a no fun zone, and they would greet our horseplay with a slap of the ruler across our knuckles. Ok, they wouldn't actually use corporal punishment. They would probably subject us to some sensitivity training and give us some Ritalin to calm us down.
