Graffiti gazpacho

I love this e-mail I got from Sonye so much. I only wish I had a photo to go with it. I would rush down to Biddle and Nursery Place if I hadn't just gotten back from "vacation." If only, of course, I had remembered to bring my handy-dandy camera with me. If anyone else is down that way, please e-mail me a jpeg and I'll post it. ...

On my drive through East Baltimore to Johns Hopkins Hospital, I noticed a large spray painted sign on the side of an abandoned house at the corner of Biddle Street (700 Block) and Nursery Place.  It took me a few more drives past to realize that the sign is actually a recipe, done with a beautiful stencil, for Gazpacho.

Maybe food brings hope in even the most troubled neighborhood.  I wonder if this is an isolated event or part of an urban recipe movement.  I am curious if you have heard of other recipe tags.

I think we need an urban recipe movement.

I think we need an urban recipe movement.

There's plenty of those already. Just say no.

Are there any staff photogs left?

When there were more, I still couldn't order them out to take photos for my blog. EL

I bet they would gladly take photos for the blog if you took them along as official tasters for your reviews.

How about asking them out?

Ms E

I meant "ask"ing rather than "order"ing out. Don't requests like, " If you go near there while you're out doing another assignment, could you snap a photo " exist anymore? Remember, as Red Green says, "we're all in this together".

Hi, I've got plenty of photos of this graffiti, I'm graffiting recipes all over the world, food, health and social justice, very tasty!

mail me if you want these photos.

Hey Terrier Girl - Knowing how you feel about people who dress up their dogs, you should go to the Unleashed blog and look under "Is this Poodle abuse?". Ridiculous!

Yuk, that whole blog is gross.

--Topic Lurch!
Sonny's down here is a chain of barbecue restaurants. Its pretty good too, they smoke the meat and have several different sauces from which to choose. And are very affordable.

Speaking of BBQ, I had a great pulled pork sandwich today from Salty Sue's. Again, smoked meat with an array of sauces from which to choose. They have an "X-hot Texas mustard" that is super hot, but pretty tasty. Don't put it on the BBQ, the heat is all you taste.
Its only a block or two from work, so I'll be back.

Not a shill, just wanted to pimp the local bbq scene. In case any of y'all find yourselves traveling down here. One thing about the South, they have good BBQ.

TG - great comment, made me laugh yesterday at work, made me laugh last night and made me laugh again this morning!

Elizabeth, send me an email and I'll send you the photos. I promise!!
