China Taste gets reviewed
As I've mentioned before, former Washington Post restaurant critic Phyllis Richman once told me the category of restaurants she had the hardest time reviewing was American Chinese restaurants.
I knew exactly what she meant. One sweet and sour pork tastes much like another.
I thought Other Reviewer Richard handled this task (OK, maybe not describing sweet and sour pork -- do Chinese restaurants still have it on their menus?) very well today in his write up of China Taste in Nottingham.
I like his idea that this is the kind of meal for a rainy night after a hard day at work. Mmm. Something like tonight.

China Taste has been there for at least 20 years. Longer, I think. It's where my kids learned restaurant behavior. The service has always been good and the food is good. Nothing exotic, like the time Editor Kate told us about...was it Duck Heads? What's on the plate does not distract from the conversation.

not so much a comment for this, but as you may or may not know, frank bruni is stepping down as the NYT restaurant critic.. though you might want to have a post about it.. or maybe throw your hat into the running haha
I didn't know, and I will (have a post about it). Thanks. EL
