Win a gift certificate to the restaurant of your choice

North-American-Rest-Contest-Badge_small.jpgIn some ways, I hate to send my band of merry pranksters to an innocent Web site, even if they might have a chance to win a $200 gift certificate to the restaurant of their choice.

But, hey, why not?

The info about the contest is at the How About Dinner on Us? post on a high-end restaurant supplier's Web site. I'm not sure what it gains them to have a lot of non-restaurant owners and non-chefs visiting, other than getting the names of popular restaurants; but whatever it is, it's worth $200 to them.

EL -- the exposure also allows North American Import & Export, the restaurant supplier in question, to shill for its subsidiary Marx Foods, which does sell to the "home chef" public.

Whoever wins this had better use the certificate quickly, the way restaurants are disappearing these days.

If you visit, the box for comments is after all the comments.

Had to poke around for it a big.

I have a storyline/entry idea for anyone who cares enough to do the research.

Most of the entries are about wanting to take spouse/kid somewhere special. The one about Disney catering to kids with allergies is going to tug at some heartstrings. Many of the others are about celebrity chefs.

But lets show some love to the not-so-celebrity chefs. A few seasons ago on Top Chef, a southern lady stepped down to save another "cheftestant" she felt should stay. OK, its not curing cancer, but in the world of reality TV, its pretty damn impressive and classy. Anyone care enough to find her name and see if her restaurant "counts"?

Just an idea...

Sure FLIRV, can I mow your lawn too?

I'm not sure what it gains them to have a lot of non-restaurant owners and non-chefs visiting...

Surely, something can be done with the names, cities, email addresses and possibly physical addresses of everyone who enters.

The winner will be chosen randomly. Why bother making anything up?

I see all these baltimore entries in the comments now. :-) good work!

I could not find your reviews of Dogwood and Woodberry Kitchen. Where can I find them?

If they are not in the restaurant database, they must be too old. EL
