The best bars and restaurants for watching NCAA basketball
Last week one commenter was disappointed in my vacation post on Top 10 Restaurant Closings.
She had been hoping for a list of places where she could eat, drink and see the national title game tonight.
The best I can do is link to an earlier Midnight Sun post. But if anyone wants to post some suggestions below, feel free, especially in terms of good food.

The bar at Crush! They have two flat screens, good food on the menu and the staff/service is always good. Additional pluses - the bartenders know how to make a real cocktail and they keep the volume off until later in the evening, so you can actually talk to your companions.

I know Mother's has awesome deals pretty much every day of the week. It's one of the best sports bars in the city.
The Blue Grotto in Towson also has decent specials, but is a little more upscale in terms of food and atmosphere. Not as many people know about them.

Not that everyone is going to run up to Western Maryland because of this reccomendation, but if you are there, The Black Bear has amazing food and lots and lots of tvs. I'm going to give them my personal award for best pub grub. The crab stuffed portobello was as good as any I've had in any "fine dining" establishment. And the staff and bar crowd very friendly.
Unlike the snoots in northern Baltimore County bars.

Joyce,
Western MD is a big place and one of my favorite places to visit.
Whereabouts is the Black Bear? Garret? Alleghany?

Fl Rob, you are right, sorry 'bout that. It's at Deep Creek Lake (McHenry). right on 219 about 5 minutes from the Exxon where you turn to go to Wisp. I still can't tell you what county that is though, LOL!

PCB Rob,
The Black Bear is in Garret Co. on Rte. 219. It's in that touristy section near the Arrowhead, Honi Honi etc. They also have a pretty good beer selection.

Thanks RayRay and Joyce.
Next time I'm up/out that way I'll be sure to try it.

The guy in the picture, left, in jeans, looks like Dennis Farina. But I know it can't be him. He's not wearing socks.

Unless things have changed, I don't think the Black Bear is open on Sundays. Now, I understand it is probably due to county liquor laws, but how can a sports bar not be open on Sundays?

Things have changed, RoCK. You have to order food I believe in order to drink but the Bear is now opened on Sundays as of very recently because there are signs up in there and in Ledo's about being able to drink on Sundays. I think carryout is still taboo.
