Drinks on the waterfront
No Monday Morning Quarterbacking today, since I didn't have a review in the paper yesterday. Instead I'll tell you about where I went Saturday evening.
A friend and I caught a 4 p.m. movie at the Landmark, "State of Play" (bonus movie review: Good enough so I've already got the six-hour BBC miniseries in my Netflix queue). Afterward she wanted to get a drink, so we wandered around until we came across the outdoor tables on the waterfront at the Lebanese Taverna. ...
It was a beautiful evening, if you remember, warm and breezy -- just the kind of evening for a glass of Prosecco. (I knew enough to avoid the Lebanese sauvignon blanc.) Prosecco, by the way, goes very well with Lebanese mezze.
If you only get one thing to nibble on there, make it the hummus.
But I didn't mean for this to be a review of the Lebanese Taverna. We picked it because it was the least expensive of the three places where we could sit and look at the water while we had a glass of wine. As I looked down the street, Cinghiale and Charleston also had their outdoor tables set up.
Any of these would be the best outdoor seating I've found in downtown Baltimore. Even though it was a Saturday night (early, to be sure), the foot traffic wasn't bad and surprisingly few cars were going by on Lancaster Street.
The only thing wrong with the view was that there is some construction catty-cornered across from the Lebanese Taverna. It was quiet that evening, but the site was still unsightly, no pun intended.
Sorry I don't have a photo for you. I, of course, forgot my camera.

Comments
It sounds like they had removed the open air port-a-urinals (something that I had never seen before) that were out on Lancaster - lucky you!

LT has great hummus. I don't care for the grocery story premade hummus -- it tastes like weird peanut butter to me -- but fresh hummus I can eat by the gallon. (If anyone would like to recommend other fresh hummus spots, please do!)
And prosecco on the patio sounds divine. I am way too poor to do Cinghiale any day except for 1/2 price Tuesdays, but it really is a great spot to watch the sun go down over the Harbor.

my sweetie and I like to sit outside at Vino in Fells Point; we stopped there yesterday mid-afternoon, and there were 4 out of 5 low tables {with umbrelli} not occupied. Also 2 high top tables empty {no umbrelli, maybe that's why; it was warm}.
We sat opposite the City Rec Pier, looked out on the water, caught a little breeze {darn little, but no complaints}.
My theory is most folks come to the Point for the Beer {in that case there's DuClaw outside seating; we wound up there on Friday nite}, or they come with kids, and it's hard to relax with a nice little glass of white when you've got little people to keep an eye on. So it was quite relaxing for us.
Therefore I highly recommend it....
N.B.: never caught a whiff of cig smoke; people are wising up...
Would love more suggestions within 20 minutes of NE Baltimore.

Pass on Harbor East and make the short walk to McCormick & Schmick's. In my opinion they have the best patio dining in Baltimore.

You probably had decent views of Maryland's new unofficial state bird, the steel crane.
