Timothy Dean's lounge in trouble

Timothy%20Dean.jpgAs of right now, I'm on vacation for a week.

Not to worry. Not from the blog, of course. Just from my desk.

I may make you do more of the work when I post, but I will be posting. (I've never sunk so low as to post "Veal: Discuss," but that may be coming one day.)

Before I sign off for tonight I wanted to link to a story in today's paper about Timothy Dean's TD Lounge. It makes me sad, because when it was Timothy Dean's Bistro the food was so good.

It sounds like he's in a heap o' trouble.

I was sitting in a court room about a year ago in which Mr. Dean was being sued by a seafood supplier over non payment of merchandise. I remember thinking to myself as I was listening to the case as to how low this guy must be to rip off one of his suppliers. His character is low and I will never patronize this place.

J'accuse!

Sorry to see TD turn his "bistro" into a night club. Seems like talent wasted. Maybe he should head back to D.C. and open a night club or start cooking again.

Sometimes I think chef's are a bit like most doctors, good to great at their profession but have no idea how to run or manage a business.

What's the difference between God and a doctor? ... God doesn't think he's a doctor.

Hue has a point. In my experience the professions of doctoring and cheffing are filled with egomaniacs who are quite taken with their own genius. They tend to suck at business too. Take note that they are also one of the few professions that take payment after their service is done.

I don't think you should judge someone's character based upon a business suing their business. A civil suit is just an accusation until it is judged. That being said, if you want to see which businesses are being run poorly, circling the drain, or just run by dirt bags this site:

is essential reading. When you see a pattern of such suits over the years, you can do your own calculus whether it be moral or financial. Also essential for gathering data before dating or doing business with someone.

Timothy Dean Bistro is a classic case to do some forensic financial analysis. In a 2.5 year period they had 9 suits against them. The suits cover almost everything that a restaurant needs to do business. I could understand this happening if things went south all of sudden, but there is clearly a pattern of non-payment of suppliers. Wake suppliers! Do some quick investigation before extending $9000 in credit for food. The suppliers suing included purveyors of meat, fish, produce, "services" and advertising.

It is quite sad when Mister Fish is suing you. Poor Mister Fish, his testicles are on the inside.

It would appear that Timothy Dean has many jealous people against him. That fish company has a reputation of poor service and quality. From my understanding they were billing Mr. Dean double or trying. This came from my source. Mr. Dean is a awesome business icon. You people need to get a life. How many of you are employing people in a recession? By the way TD Lounge just made 50 best in Baltimore magazine go figure people. Put that in your pipe and smoke it!!!

Why would people be jealous?

Anyway, my sources (the District Court of Maryland) say that Mr. Fish had a legitimate claim and a judgment was made in their favor for $5000+.

It's probably better to let this fade away.

I enjoyed the bistro when it opened and gave them a pass on slips in service. However, service didnt improve, the location is poor and Dean has a reputation of poor management. His previous attempt had problems with his landlord and suppliers. He is a talented Chef that needs to partner with a talented biz guy to build a successful restaurant.

You people need to get a life. Mr. Dean is a awesome business man. None of his companys are bankrupt like Mr. Trump. By the way he is opening not one but two new ventures in a recession. Now as I said put that in your pipe and smoke fools.

Bucky what you are trying to say?

Just that Ms. Smith seems to have a Springs1 quality about her, so I was renaming her Smith1. Maybe too obscure. I was cracking myself up, though.

I have been to TDs several times. Tim has been a loyal supporter of the community. He has supported several organizations as a guest speaker and providing complimentary cooking demos. The food is outstanding and yes some portions are not huge (Neither is Pazzo's)Most people maybe a little upset if Tim does not speak to them but yet they see that he speaks to the regulars. Tim is learning to run a business and must be getting better since he is opening a restaurant at National Harbor and in Vegas. The service continues to improve. I took several of friends there and they all loved it. I even took 10 of my staff members there for an appreciation dinner. I think most people who have such a negative spin may wish they where treated like VIP. Well anywhere you go VIP treatment is based on frequency of your vist and $$$ you spend.although no one is perfect, I think some of the prior comments are harsh.I am a huge Ruth Chris and Havana Club fan. I have been several times. The owner could walk by me a hundred times (and he may have) and I would not know who he was.I have found that the staff is pleasant abd very accomidating...they just have to put up with a lot of BS and pretenders. TDs is worth giving another shot if you where dissapointed..but know what you want and what his lounge is offering. Oh by the way, the Red maple food is tiny and small crowds at times as well. We can go on and on but that is why there are tons of places and not just one and every nite each place is not equal. Right? PS. The Steakfish is a great size and awesome!

I used to have leprosy and Timothy Dean healed me by anointing me with pomegrate aioli and capers ... and jazz!

Although I'm not a VIP at Timothy Dean's, I'm one at Arby's. This status affords me such special treatment as extra horsey sauce and a free iced tea after I purchase six. It's good to be special.

RoCK, you'll always be a VIP on D@L and you don't even have to pay extra.

Horsey sauce? Oh yeah, that was some kind of horseradishy mayonnaisey thing? It now strikes me as insane to include "horse" in your description of anything at Arby's, considering the equine nature of their "beef".

VP,
I believe that's spelled "bef".

As long as it's not "Biff", because salesmen are tough.

Horse is tasty, though.

Horse is definitely tastier than Arby's "beef". Ironically, Roy Roger's beef is more beef-like. And no, I wil not stop saying "ironically".

RayRay,

I thought it was spelled "beaf".

I think the "beef" at Arby's is spelled "bouillon".

Where is TD opening a place in Vegas?

Give the guy a break. These are hard times for small businesses.
I know because I have hundreds of clients persevering. through this period.

Give Timothy a break.

Gary Williams, I've actually nothing to say about TD and wish no one else would speak of him ever again as well. I'm bored with the whole thing.

BTW, great victory the other night, too bad about the riots though. Go Terps!

Hey Gary, just curious - how are things going for small business? Got any clients weathering this storm?

Wilma! You're old enough to be his mother! You've turned into quite a cougar since Fred died, but leave the young men for Pebbles!

Pebbles is a lesbian, hence Fruity Pebbles

Wilma's not too old for me! rrrrrrrrlll! But I agree with her. Marcus Olson is dreamy. Hey, it's tough being a cave boy. You takes what you gets.
