How to link in comments

What do you give to your cyberbuddies who already have everything? (Everything that counts, anyway, like intelligence, the right level of nuttiness, good humor and forgiving natures.)

The only thing I could come up with was an easy way to find the directions on how to link to other Web pages in comments. So I'm making this entry a category of one. Anytime you feel like linking, just click on the category "Linking" on the right side of the page.

Here's the format. Just copy it and plug in the Web address and the word or words you want to make a link.

 <a href="the Web address here" rel="nofollow">the link here</a>

I'm in Buenos Aires, by the way, where it's sunny and 80 degrees, and three hours later.

Ok, I'm seeing if a computer spaz like me can even do it. If this works, it'll be a great Tom Waits song for all to enjoy. If it fails Merry Christmas anyway!

So this will probably be our Christmas link topic today...

Merry Christmas everyone.

Dear Leader:
If you loved us, you would put that on the rail:
1) without the x's
2) with a single word like TEXT and ADDRESS so that we could double click it away.

I'm just saying... Kim Jong Il would do it for his beloved people.

Now back to eating mangos and worrying.

Merry Christmas, all!

Here's the way I do the link, with the "greater & less than" marks in place of the brackets.

{a href="ADDRESS">TEXT

I just keep it in a little text file and cut and paste.

Thank God you made it. Hope you are feeling better. Felice Navidad, amiga.

Merry Christmas, EL to you and your family!

Merry Christmas to the Sandbox!

Step away from the computer, EL.

You are in Buenos Aires. On vacation. You always have backup post approvers, so I reckon you have them now. Just bring them back something nice, and let them approve the posts.

We'll be here when you get back. You can tell us all about the food, the weather, etc. But, for the love of the gods, go enjoy yourself now!

Bucky, your link reminded me that I have a friend who used to make a little extra this time of year by caroling with a group at the local malls. One year a guy stumped them by requesting "Everybody knows a turkey." Huh? You know, "Everybody knows / a turkey and some mistletoe / help to make the season bright ..."

Step away from the computer, EL

Lissa, EL might very well enjoy being at the computer on vacation. It doesn't require that many hours of the day.

I just came back from four accidentally computer-free days in Manhattan (I managed to forget the computer...I'd never done that before), and I definitely wouldn't do it again on purpose.

True, Hal. I'm the one who carried a computer around Iceland, after all.

But, this is work, and I've worked far too many holidays to wish that on anyone else. Of course, I expect that, as an adult, our fearless leader will do whatever she wishess.

In case you missed this... :-)EL

I had missed it. I'd go on a rant about management trying to get people to do more work for less pay, but I haven't had enough coffee yet.

Welcome back Hal Laurent, VoR. I was wondering where you were. Hope you had a great time in Manhattan even without the sandbox.

Lady Elizabeth, you may give them blogging for free, but I really think they ought to pay you for it!

Hi all - The dreaded 'x' has been removed from this entry.

Happy holidays!

Dahlink, my own personal Christmas carol fave is "later on, we'll perspire, as we sweat by the fire"...

We marvel at the power you wield, Web Editor Lauren. Does you family know and appreciate this?

Jeez Joyce - I literally was singing that exact verse in my head all day yesterday...Now it's back! I guess it is payback for "My Sharona" (tag, your it!).

Oh you evil, evil woman! lol ; )
