Where can Amy get Girl Scout cookies?
Amy sent me this sad little e-mail yesterday. (No car. More importantly, no thin mints.) If anyone can help her out, please post below:
Forgive me for writing to you about this non-restaurant related question, but I figure you're plugged into the food scene and might be able to direct me - ever since we moved here I haven't been able to find anyone selling Girl Scout cookies!
Do you happen to know about a source? We live in Mount Vernon and are without a car.

If you go to this website http://www.girlscoutcookies.org/ it will hook you up with a local troop where you live to see about cookies!

Here is the link to Girl Scouts of Central Maryland. I clicked on the link for Cookie Booth sales and there was nothing for 21201, however, if you call them I am sure they will find some way for you to buy the cookies.
Good luck!

EL,
My daughter's Brownie troop just finished their cookie sale but I have a few extra. We have one box each of Trefoils, Tagalongs, Thin Mints, and the new caramel variety Dulce de Leche. The cost is $3.50 per box and I would be happy to get them to Amy if she's interested.

I'm probably not much help considering I bought my box of cookies from the Girl Scouts headquarters off of Seton Drive. However, I just saw on the Girl Scouts Website that they have a cookie locator: http://www.gscm.org/cookies%202008/WhereToBuy.html

Your reader can go to the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland website (www.gscm.org) and find a link to all the Booth Sales in the Central Maryland area. The Booth Sales have been extended through the end of the year, but will become more rare after November 21st. Troop 153 will be selling cookies Saturday, November 15th from 10:00 to 1:00 in front of the Jo-Ann Fabric store located at 1951 East Joppa Road.

Hi,
I'm Amy the pathetic Thin Mintless person :(
I tried to plug in my zip (21202) to that locator but I'm getting a "no sales available" response!

Thanks, everyone! I just realized that Eddie's in Charles Village has a booth.
Yay!

The link that CK posted is also on the front page of the Sun website, in a little ad at the top right corner that says Want Samoa?

They've been selling them outside of the Canton Safeway (on the 11) for weeks.

I put in 21218 and see they are doing sales at Eddie's in Charles Village. Amy, you can take the #3 bus straight up Charles, or walk it if you're feeling healthy. That would burn off at least a half-box worth of calories, I think!

My wife had that same craving once, I don't really see the big deal, so she sent me out in search of them. I went to the local park and started asking people if they knew of any Girl Scouts. I'm pretty sure I'm on a special list now.

Girl Scout cookies are an absolute nutritional abomination. I used to eat them all the time until I looked at the ingredients about ten years ago. They have the worst ingredients of any cookie sold ANYWHERE except maybe Mexico. Check out the ingredients here:

Yes I sound like a grinch and it's hard to believe that those adorable kids are peddling such garbage but they are rife with HFCS and deadly partially hydrogenated oils. It's a shame that the Girl Scout Corporation doesn't set a better example for nutrition for our young ladies. They should, right? Snacks are cool. Cookies are great. Why do they have to be part of the ADM agri-business nightmare? Peace.

tamara -- at least we should be thankful that the Girl Scout Cookies contain no cholesterol. ;-)

actually hmpstd they would be much healthier and tastier if they were made the olde fashioned way with lard.

Yea, Girl Scout cookies may be bad for you, but there is still nothing better than a Thin Mint cookie!

I've been hooked on the Back to Nature version of Thin Mints (note, not the chocolate & mint creme cookies which are like oreos) lately. IMO they are even better than the Girl Scout cookies.
