Cleaning out the corners of the metaphysical closet
Multimedia Editor Emeritus and Cleaner of Metaphysical Closets John Lindner is at it again. Another Shallow Thought Wednesday where I want to grab him by his lapels (if he weren't wearing his Grateful Dead T-shirt) and ask him, "How could you have left off tiramisu?" EL
"Again from the metaphysical closet, favorite food words in no particular order:
* Timbale
* Nougat
* Puttanesca
* Jambalaya
* Saute
* Fritter
* Baste
* Coq au vin
* Fork
Happy Thanksgiving, Sandboxers"

I meant to post this the last time you mentioned the subject. Food for thought.
Metaphysics is a restaurant where they give you a thirty-thousand page menu and no food. -- Pirsig, Robert M., Lila. An inquiry into morals.
Thank you so much for posting this. I love Pirsig. EL

Poutine and pickle make me giggle.

Chiffonade!

I don't think this is topic drift, but my wife no longer lets me use this restaurant-related term: soft opening. It disturbs her.

What kind of list omits Foie Gras, Cassoulet and Etouffee?
Posted by: Robert of Cross Keys | November 26, 2008 2:16 PM
Food: Kumquat
Food company: Oro-Wheat and Entenmann's are brands owned by Bimbo Bakeries.

Etouffee!
I love that stuff. Didn't start eating it until I came down here. A great Cajun sports bar/restaurant named Calypso down has it. I only go there in the football off-season since it is also a Steeler bar.

Bimbo Bakeries
Do they do a calendar?
Posted by: Robert (the Single One) | November 26, 2008 3:58 PM
RtSO,
Don't know about a calendar but I bet they make a great tart!

Hey!

One can never have too many Tarts. (See, its not nasty, attacking anyone and may actually be referring to food.)

Chiffonnade has two "n's." (Not that I'm fussy.)
Choesels?? (Okay, I just saw this across the page in Larousse while looking up the spelling of Chiffonnade!)
I am seriously fond of most offal.
MrRational: is Metaphysics owned by the same group that runs The Restaurant at the End of the Universe?

... Oh, forgot to add Zwieback!

OK, I got home and was able to watch the video. And if y'all think that I'm going to abide by the "Do Not Attempt This At Home" warning, you don't know me well at all.
Tomorrow night, after Thanksgiving has wound down, I'm taking my great-nieces and nephews in the kitchen, turning off the lights and wowing them with a blender full of lightsticks.
Posted by: Bucky | November 26, 2008 9:07 PM
Bucky, I'm thinking that the blender of lightsticks is basically an upgrade to the old jar of fireflies.

What about voodoo pork?
(okay, just kissing up a little, it's a big day tomorrow in the suburbs)

Hi Bourbon Girl,
Can you please break the Owl out of his funk and get him to post in English again?
Hope you two have a great Thanksgiving!
That goes for all the regulars and visitors to the Sandbox and EL as well!

Just wanted to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving. Hope your turkeys, turduckens, or goats are as satisfying as your company.

On behalf of the Girl Squad, Happy Thanksgiving to EL and all the lovely folks who contribute to this little online community. Gobble! Gobble!

Thanks Bourbon Girl. To hear OMG talk you are happiness incarnate -- We've talked on the phone but I look forward to seeing you tomorrow. Just get our buddy off the Wittgenstein and Jameson's and bring yourselves to our humble abode -- as you know, we do international Thanksgiving -- that's no turkey and lots of well, other stuff.
