Where can I get the best muffins in Baltimore?

muffins.jpgYesterday at the gym they were having Member Appreciation Day. (Which somehow also involved their dressing in Halloween costumes. Go figure.) Anyway, they also put out trays of cut up fruit, cookies and little miniature muffins.

I know. I know. A gym ought to be putting out, oh, energy bars.

These muffins were fabulous. They were really moist, had an orange flavor and the bottom half was pink. (OK, that part was a little weird.) And they had a kind of crunchy, sugary top.

Unfortunately the person who bought them for the event wasn't around, so I couldn't ask where she got them.

I'm not a muffin eater normally -- if I want a pastry, there are too many others I crave first. But now I've got the bug. So here's my question for you: Where can I get, if not these, then the best muffins in Baltimore?

I've heard there is someone called "the muffin lady" who makes the best muffins in town and supplies them to many places. I'm not joking. I just don't know her name.

Muffins at Clementine are delicious. And I remember them being pricey as well. I guess you get what you pay for.

RED CANOE!!!!!! Hands down. Homemade all day long, really interesting flavor combinations, big, and wonderful.

I don't know where that particular muffin came from, but if you haven't had the raspberry muffin at Red Canoe in Lauraville, your life is incomplete.

Best muffins I've found are at the farmer's market on Sunday morning [under the JFX at the Pleasant St. exit. The proprietor's name is Rudy and his wife Judy makes the muffins. They are worth the drive from the burbs.

1.) Donna’s has the BEST blueberry muffins ever.
2.) The Evergreen on Coldspring. They have a ton of well reputed muffins, but the best is by far the Danger Muffin—a plain muffin dipped in butter, rolled in cinnamon and sugar, then dipped in butter again, and then rolled in the cinnamon and sugar a second time. It’s heaven. It also negates any other meals for the rest of the day.

The savory muffins at Red Canoe are also amazing. They go GREAT with their tomato bisque.

JD -- You know the Muffin Man?

The best muffins are at the 32nd Street Famer's Market. The vendor is Uptown Bakers out of Williamsbrg, VA. Get there early as they sell out before the market closes at Noon.

I like the blackbottom muffins from Uptown Bakers. But this might be because I have a long love affair with their Challah...

The Sunday Farmer's Market. A couple stands down from the Apple People who are right at the entrance by the guitar player.

(I'm actually very good with names when I'm in 'work the room' mode. Sunday mornings belong to me.)

The Evergreen and Common Ground (same owner) have FANTASTIC muffins.

Not sure, but I am addicted to Starbucks Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin with pumpkin seeds on top. I love this time of year!

Wegman's has some tasty muffins, I must admit.

Carma's Café in Charles Village. And their cafe au lait is delicious to boot.

Stone Mill Bakery in Greenspring Station has amazing muffins ..and the muffin tops at Coffee with T in Stevenson Village are yummy, as well.

The Evergreen on Coldspring Lane has the best Bran Muffin. It is so flavorful and moist. I crave these muffins. Friends of mine that live out of the area ask us to bring them the Evergreen's Bran and Blueberry muffins every time we go there.
