'Death knell' for some chains

crisis_restaurants_1008.jpg

LeeAnn sent me this link to a story about restaurants and the economy that appeared on Time.com today. Nothing new, really, but fairly interesting.

I have an ostrich personality anyway, so maybe it's not surprising that I didn't click on the link at the end of the story that said: "View images of the global food crisis here."

Uh, maybe in the morning.

Wow. Who knew? Restaurants Face Lean Times in the Economic Downturn. Hoo boy. And I bet their roofs get wet in the rainy season.

Try the veal, I'll be here all week.

I guess in these tough times, it wouldn't be the veal. Perhaps it would be try the cube steak or the tuna surprise, I'll be here all week.

Richard Gorelick was appointed The Baltimore Sun's restaurant critic in September 2010. Before joining the paper staff fulltime, he contributed freelance criticism and features articles about food to area and regional publications. He takes restaurants seriously but not himself, and his favorite restaurant is the one you love, too.
