Question No. 2: What is your TV food?

It's funny how movies have "their" food -- popcorn, of course. And SuperBowl watching has its food, manly wings and taco dips, and so on. But TV in general doesn't.

However, do individuals have their favorite foods to eat when they sit down to watch TV? I don't, but that's probably because I only watch TV after dinner, and once I finish dinner I'm finished for the night.

We never have dessert with dinner. We have it later, usually while watching TV. But there isn't a favorite, per se.

I am partial to a quesedilla.

Every Saturday night when we're not kid-less, we split a pint of ice cream and watch either TV or a movie. And we literally split the pint--get a sharp knife and cut the container in half, then dump the contents into bowls.

Chi-Chi's Medium Salsa, off a spoon. (The chips were starting to develop into a muffin top.)

Second vote for ice cream.

Animal crackers.

dcdiva - tell the truth. Do you bite the heads off first?

When I do indulge, either a few in-shell roasted peanuts or tortilla chips with salsa or hummus. I used to regularly munch on sweets, but when the "muffin top" started turning into a truck-sized Michelin, I cut WAY back.

Bucky- heads, legs, then torso.

I have a giant tub of animal crackers right next to the recliner. I am obsessed with them. I am convinced they have magical healing powers.

Crunchy stuff, (of course). But, not after dinner. Somehow, with all my nutty eating habits I developed on good one. I finish dinner with or without dessert and I'm done for the night. Now, in my younger years with the help of shall we say an appetite stimulant, that rule didn't apply and I ate whole meals after dinner, but that's another era and another story!

I don't eat after dinner on week nights or Sunday, but on Saturdays, all bets are off.

I try to be good and munch on veggies since they're all fresh from the market on Saturday. I do, however, favor Marie's blue cheese dressing as a dip.

The Small Boys and I like to bite animal crackers legs off and then watch them try to run from a preditor cracker. When they get bigger, we'll watch Monty Python's and the Holy Grail

Animal crackers are small enough to eat in one bite, but everyone I know bites the head off first, then eats the rest. I do too.

I've always wondered about the significance of that, if any. It seems very primal.

Target's Archer Farms Caribbean Jerk Potato Crisps. I could eat the whole bag if I let myself. Those + "Rescue Me" = heaven

I used to eat nuts (peanuts, almonds and pistachios mostly), but now when I finish dinner, I'm done eating for the evening.

I still enjoy the nuts, but as an afternoon snack.

Oh Joyce W - do tell! You wild girl.

PCB Rob - we are two of a kind. I am guilty of having nuts with my bourbon (and TV). Pistachios, almonds. And my fav - Planters pecan, almond, cashew mix. I don't have to worry about eating them after dinner, though - they usually are my dinner.

Bourbon Girl,

Yes, we are two of a kind. The Planters mix (love that NUT-rition heart-healthy blend with the walnuts too) is my definite favorite. Although if you want the BEST pistachios around, visit nutsonline.com and get a pound of their shelled and salted pistachios.

Yes, they aren't cheap at about $11 a pound, but they are unshelled so you do get a LOT of nuts.

At the risk of sounding like their shill, their dried apricots and their quinoa have no match.

Cheers!

I also love pistachios, but usually have the spicy ones. Trader Joe has both Habanero and Jalapeno spiced pistachios, as well as a lot of other nuts. Another place that has differently spiced (as well as regular) pistachios is Eagle Ranch Pistachios in New Mexico. When I get the Planters "Lovers" mix, I have to get the "Pecan Lovers Mix" because if has pistachios but doesn't have almonds, which make up much of the "Pistachio Lovers Mix." I don't like that many almonds at one time (don't tell my DW, 'cause she's from Northern California and they have almond trees all over).

Eve honey, for the first time in my life I almost snorted ice cream out my nose. Predator animal crackers indeed...hilarious!
