A couple of bonus restaurants

Sometimes when I have an idea for a post, I fill in the title and go back and write it when I have the time. For Top 10 ideas I do the same. But since I work in chronological order, after awhile the entries disappear from the top of the list unless I change their dates. I was going back just now to weed out some old ones, and I came across one for, you guessed it, Top 10 Restaurants in Strip Malls. In the entry body I had written some notes: ...

"Thanks to Bill for this one." I wonder who Bill is? Please speak up if you're still around.

And then I had started my list:

* Aida Bistro

* Cafe de Paris

* Cafe Mezzanotte

* Cynthia's

* Pasta Plus

* Szechuan House

* Trattoria Alberto

If I had to do this morning's list over again, a couple of these would definitely be on it, although I'm not sure what I'd leave off. Which goes to prove that you shouldn't take these Top 10s too seriously.

That Chinese restaurant in North Plaza Shopping Center, the name escapes me at the moment. Good food, nice atmosphere and service too.

How about Salsa Grill on Security Blvd..definetly a strip mall..and very good

China Delight, Carney Village.

Aida Bistro is an understatment... that's a TRUE gem!

Thanks for noting it E!

One of my favorite local Chinese restaurants has been Olive and Sesame in Pikesville. Suddenly, when we went there over the weekend, the place was closed and the furniture was stacked outside. Any idea what's happened?

Someone told me they had closed, but that's all I know. Anybody else? EL

Olive and Sesame had been closed by the food police for various violations involving rats, etc. Apparently this happened quite a few times and was picked up by a local news channel due to the number of times it had been closed. So, (guessing this part) people stopped going and now they've closed up shop.

What about the Olive and Sesame in Towson--is it still open?

The absolute Best restaurant for "home-cooked meals with love" is Granny's in Owings Mills. The atmosphere is wonderful - warm friendly wait staff & the owner greets you personally. Can't get better than that!

wait staff & the owner greets you personally As apposed to what, a recording tripped when you come through the door? I'm not picking on Ms Cerealmon, its a phrase used often and seem to make no sense. In the alternative, if you are directly spoken to, how can it anything but personal.

Geeze, Robert, ya think this might be why EL can't get a review from anyone?

As I said, I wasn't taking a shot at Ms Ceralmom, per se. Its such a meaningless statement. Besides, the whole comment reads much more like that of a PR hack than a legitimate comment. And while we're at it, what review? Other than gushing like a pr piece, what information about Granny's is given? Would you go to Granny's just so you could be personally greeted as you enter the place. Here's another question: when have you ever been to a restaurant and not been personally greeted? Even 'Oh, sit anywhere' constitutes a personal greeting.

I'm looking forward to a trip to Daniel's with Big John Lindner...I bet there, they pat you down when you walk through the door. Now THAT'S a personal greeting, in my book.
