Extra! Extra! Read all about them: deals at restaurants

NewThree.jpgNow reopened after a summer vacation, Three... in the Patterson Park area is making some changes. Michael Harmel, one of the owners, answered the phone when I called yesterday and said the changes would make Three... friendlier and more of a neighborhood place. "But the menu and food will remain the same."

That puzzled me, but he explained further. The two improvements are a menu of specials based on what the restaurant buys at the Sunday farmers market, and deals aimed at attracting more neighborhood folks. (I asked him if they check addresses on  IDs.) ...

I've been meaning to post something about restaurant deals, hoping that if readers have come across any good ones lately they can let the rest of us know. Here's what Three... is offering:

* Lower beer prices

* Tuesday: wine flights, three wines for $5

* Wednesday: half-price small plates for neighborhood people and Happy Hour prices all night on drinks

* Thursday: half-price bottles of wine with an entree

Now it's your turn.

I noticed last night that Three...was finally open again, a week after they said they would reopen.

The problem wasn't the prices, it was that the quality of the food nosedived.

It is a weird neighbourhood for food. You have Three... which is trying to pretend to be in Canton or Federal Hill and you've got your usual low price pizza places and Latino food from various countries. Nothing in the middle.

Awesome! I've always liked Three but thought they should add some nightly specials. Also heard that Ra Sushi is launching a new happy hour in a few weeks...trying to get details.

We're keeping a running list of Baltimore food/drink specials on our website and I'll make sure we add any new ones that are posted here.

meant to tell you yesterday, there's a sign on the Harryman House saying something about changing the menu, changing the decor and changing the name - the latest coupon I saw in the Valpac or somewhere says "The Harryman Grill".

Thank you Three...! As a neighbor, I really appreciate the lower prices on drinks so it can be less of a "special occasion" and more of "it's Tuesday".

The Wednesday specials are especially important because the Patterson Park neighborhood has our weekly Citizens On Patrol walk that night and we usually end up at a bar after. Three... is definitely more welcoming now.

Lissa - Three reopened last week, on Tuesday night, just as they said they would.

Roaman's Place is a sort of mid-point between Tijuana Tacos and Three... but closer to the lower end than the higher. Would be nice to have a place to grab a burger though.

I love Three... This is great to hear!

My question would be what qualifies as "in the neighborhood?" My parents live 4-5 blocks north of Three... on the same street. They can walk there easily so they'd consider that "in the neighborhood" but I have a feeling some of the park people wouldn't. Are they doing it by zip code or what? Anyone know?

A new place called TapaBar just opened up in my neighborhood at High and Eastern Ave. Lots of authentic tasty Spanish food. They have a free Spanish wine tasting there from 6-7 on Wednesdays. Free is the best deal going. I'll be going. See you there blamigos.

Todd Conners in Fells Point started a neighbor night when they opened and still have it. They give you the discount if you live just about anywhere in the city, with proof. Its Wed. night and you get 25% off all food. Not sure what Three... is doing but will have to check it out.

I'm not sure if this is official or not, but the deal with Three on Wednesday's "neighbor night" is that the specials are bar-only. It will probably be crowded more often than not, so if the neighbors don't recognize you, prepare to be greeted! I doubt you'd get turned away if you live 4 blocks north or even further. We're a friendly bunch of neighbors, especially with drink specials! It just may be a bit crowded if you like calm or privacy.

Well, it's not a restaurant deal, but Eddie's has the shrimp salad sandwich sale starting 9/10. $4.99 each. I really look forward to this.

They usually also give out little squares of their very delicious sheet cake while you wait for your shrimp salad sandwich(s).

Am I the only one who hears the score of "Tommy" with this EL headline?

I was actually hearing the score of Gypsy.

Rosebud, I don't know about this sale but think I must learn more. Which Eddies? Thanks!

Rosebud wrote, concerning Eddies: "They usually also give out little squares of their very delicious sheet cake while you wait for your shrimp salad sandwich(s)."

Now that's a restaurant I could really like. "Life's uncertain. Eat dessert first."

Eddie's on Roland Avenue and North Charles Street.

Like I said, not a restaurant deal, but just order at the deli and, hopefully, eat a piece of cake while you wait. I think these twice-a-year sales are in conjunction with the anniversary for each store.
