The freebies just keep coming

slurpee.jpg

Well, isn't this thrilling. Not. Participating 7-Elevens are offering free Slurpees today in honor of July 11. You know, 07-11. Co-consumer blogger Liz Kay has all the exciting details over at her blog.

OK, I'm being mean about this, considering I've never had or even tasted a Slurpee; but I don't notice wine shops giving away free bottles of wine, which is pretty much what I need at this point in the week. A free Slurpee just isn't going to do it for me.

Also what's this with "participating locations"? That's such a weasely phrase. I wonder if it's a matter of some franchise owner saying, "You know what? I just don't feel like giving away free stuff for such a stupid reason."

Now if they were giving away sushi at participating 7-Elevens, I might reconsider.

Ha ha. Just kidding.

They just added about Chick-fil-A dress like a cow get a free combo meal. Now why didn't you know about that first. It is too late for me to make a costume and get a free meal. I guess I will have to work on it for next year! Free Food always is good.

That's exactly it. Depending on how the franchise agreement is written, franchisees may not be required to follow all company give-aways. If the Sun Corporate Headquarters declared July 15 as "Sun reporters dollar giveaway day" where if you met a Sun reporter she or he would give you a dollar, would you be a "participating reporter?"

Interesting article from a few weeks ago in the WSJ about Cold Stone Creamery's problems. One of the franchisee complaints is the corporate buy-one-get-one-free promotion. Anyway, not good times at Cold Stone.

Never even tasted a slurpee? How is that possible? Not even a sip of one of Gailor's?

It's been a while for me...but I love a slurpee!

Slurpee? Gailor's never even tasted a soda. EL

Gailor has never tasted a soda or a slurpee? How is this possible? Back in my carpool days the Friday afternoon visit to 7-11 was mandatory, but then I was hauling around little boys.

Gailor's never tasted soda or a Slurpee? Was this Gailor's choice or or was it child abuse?

The only abuse that happens in our household is mom abuse. EL

Mom is always the last to know. Gailor is in Orlando throwing back a Cola Slurpee as we write.

OK this goes to show that cut backs at the sun were in order. If they have a person on staff who has time to write about Slurpees Then someone needs to maybe fill in over at B. You can send her to my house for a RC Cola and Moon Pie or a Dr Pepper and a bag of peanuts unless we were back home in New Orleans we could go to the 7-11 drive through for a biggie gulp Slurpee that was a margarita or Dakri I bet you have never seen a drive through at 7-11 let alone a margirita or dakri Slurpee...

Click here for a photo of a drive-through Margarita stand/store in Louisiana. They are rampant in the state. I didn't look for a 7-11 in New Orleans, but I have no doubt that they have them there as well.
I was totally amazed at the number of drive-through Margarita stands in the state. Absolutely amazing...

What can you say, but that Louisiana is progressive?

Between the drive-thru booze stands and the incredible food, why don't we all live there?

oh yeah. the 'caines.

"it's a drag when your world's a hurricane... can't fall asleep without the tv on..."
