The BYOB list

Guillaume has asked for an up-to-date list of BYOB restaurants. I have to hit the road so I can't make one up for him, but you can, and my wonderful editors will happily post all your comments for me.

Bon Voyage! May you go and return safely, and have a great time while you're there.

Grill Art on 36th street in Hampden. Great Kobe steak at a good price ($24, IIRC) and no corkage fee. Double bonus: they'ree less than a block from the wonderful Wine Source store.

Iggie's Pizza - 818 N. Calvert St.

Samos in greektown.

For a casual atmosphere, I like Wink's Hilltop Grill at 834 Conkling. For sushi I suggest Asahi Sushi on Broadway.

Check out the new Catonsville Gourmet. It can't get a liquor license due to its proximity to a church. After having suffered great restaurant withdrawal moving from the city to Catonsville, I'm encouraged that we now have at least one place I can go that feels a little more sophisticated, but not over the top. Corkage is only $5 and they'll keep it cold and refill for you. When we were there, service was a little spotty, but atmosphere is great and will be going back.

In Towson, Orchard Market & Cafe, and no corkage fee.

Second for Grill Art. My only complaint there is that the service is sometimes slow, but it doesn't really bother me.

thai arroy in fed hill.

There are tons of great sushi places in the Towson/Timonium area that are BYOB. Yamoto is one of our favorite places. The good news is that there is a new wine shop called Swirl Wine down the street on York Road. I love their wine selection. A bottle of cold off-dry Riesling and spicy tuna roll. Yummy!

BYO is one of the few good things about living in NJ (where I am now and I miss Baltimore!). There are tons of places in the small towns where I am located that are BYO -- NJ tends to be tight on the number of liquor licenses it will give out. I've already saved a ton of money by bringing my own :-)

Clementine is BYOB with a $5 corkage for the table and will bring a big ice bucket!!

Cafe Gia in Little Italy

and

Samos in Greektown

There is a BYOB list at the Wine Source web site.

Edo Sushi on Padonia Rd. has the best sushi in town and is BYOB with no corkage fee.

Egyptian Pizza in Belvedere Square is also BYOB but they started charging a high corkage fee in the past year.

Thai Arroy
Iggies
Dogwood (used to be, not sure if they got a license yet)

Oriole Park at Camden Yards- oops, did I just say that...

My understanding is that Dogwood is no longer BYOB.

Darker Than Blue Cafe 3034 Greenmount Ave
No Cork Fee

Didn't someone report here earlier than when they asked about BYOB at Darker than Blue they were told "We don't do that?" Or am I having a senior moment here?

We have always offered BYOB on just wine

Cafe GIa - $8 "corkage" fee on screw top bottle and $2 "corkage" fee on each bottle or can of beer. You can get a 6 pack down the street at Il Scalino for $6.99, but the corkage fee will be $12. Hilarious.

Casey should identify what restauirant he represents or the info isn't very useful.

Sorry if this is redundant, but both Clementine in Hamilton, and Cafe Gia in Lilitaly are terrific, with great service, great food, and owned by nice folks.
{no affliliation with either, just want to do what I can to keep them going, so I can keep going back!}.

my office...

Casey- Who is "we"?

Zeeba Lounge in Fed Hill

Seriously, did Anonymous just identify who he represents? Anybody see a flaw in that?

my office ....

my paper clip ....

your Glad Zip-Lock resealable bag.

Anybody else care to join the dialog? Perhaps Godot?

If I recall correctly, "Casey" is Casey Jenkins, the owner/chef of the Darker Than Blue Cafe. See this old post on BYOB establishments.
