Renee at Donna's

reneez.jpg

I hear that Renée Zellweger was spotted at Donna's at Cross Keys over the weekend. She sat at the bar to eat her beet salad, and ordered a feta salad to go.

What I can't figure out is why she ended up at that particular Donna's. She can't be staying at the Cross Keys hotel, can she?  My One and Only, her movie, is being shot in and around Baltimore through July.

Sorry, guys, I know it's immature of me; but I like celebrity sightings. And I like knowing what they order when they eat at a local restaurant.

She may be filming around the area -- I saw some vintage cars Friday in the parking lot of a high school down the street on Falls Road.

I think the Cross Keys Inn is now a Radisson property and is supposed to me decent.

On another note, any word on why the California Pizza Kitchen in Harborplace closed for good over the weekend?

I saw signs for MOO at the Walters today and traffic on Charles & Centre streets was a nightmare. At 8:30 a.m.

Geez

You had me at "Beet salad"

The parking lot at Poly Western (right?) at Coldspring and Falls has historically been the parking lot for Baltimore-based productions.

Renee is in town filming a movie. She has rented a condo at Harbor View and has been here for more than a month. I've heard that she eats healthy food--must love a beet salad!

Renee ate at Cinghiale about a month and a half ago, before the filming of her movie began, but she was in town. She came in on a weeknight with a friend and had the three course prix fixe meal, ordering the Pasta Fagioli, Maccheroni, and Ribeye. She also shared a bottle of amarone and had a glass of Brunello with her steak. She was really nice and down to earth!

I like celebrity sightings also. But I dislike the popular use of the term "guys" to refer to everyone. In fact, I could work up a rant about it (probably half of the Dining@Large bloggers are female, for instance) except it's getting late and I have to show up at work tomorrow in a reasonably intelligent state.

I will do better in the future. :-) EL

You can't beet a salad.

So, do you prefer Chick-e-Poos?

"Let us" hope not

Oh, back in the day the old Cross Keys Inn was where all of the visiting baseball teams would stay. Many a night you could find Billy Martin of the Yankees at the hotel bar getting into a fight.

Really???? Another Bridget Jones in the works (mmmeeeeeeeeeeoooooooow)

I want to know when she is coming home to texas!! COME HOME RENEE!!!!!!!!!!! BTW, I love people like you so keep me posted on when she is coming to texas.

"Guys" makes me feel like I'm back in NJ.

EL, I was only working into a mini rant .... My mom & sister & I had been emailing about this off and on, is why it caught my notice. Recently Mom wrote that she'd had lunch with a group of women (age range 75-90) and when they left the hostess said "Thanks for coming in, guys". (Mom added "really now, isn't that a bit absurd?" which had me laughing out loud).

RtSO, "Chick-e-Poos"? Hmmm, let me think about that. No.

If I had to choose, I'd rather hear the wonderfully all-inclusive, slightly southern in accent y'all.

In Pittsburgh-ese it would be "yins"

I hear y'all at least 50 times a day at least down he-ah.

What, Chick-e-Poos isn't popular with y'all? Guys, I'm really surprised. ;-)

how about "use guys", stop say that

My rant would be saying kids when you mean children and saying cops when you mean police

Least favourite expression at a restaurant: "Are you guys done working on that?" It makes me want to slap the server. I don't work on my food. And I am not a guy.

Point to Pigtown. We have covered this topic before, but it bears repeating, as there are still servers out there who use that foul expression.

I got a tip from an insider: she will be filming on East Oliver St. and Lakewood Ave. tonight, July 2.
