Shore good (sorry)

A few final thoughts about eating in Berlin. If you're spending some time in Ocean City this summer, take a side trip to Berlin and remember these:

I wish I had discovered the Atlantic Hotel's Solstice Grill before lunch. Maybe the food wouldn't have been any better, but I loved the looks of the dining room.

Second, the Tea by the Sea Tearoom was fabulous. I stopped by just before it closed and had a pot of Asam tea. ...

It was brewed with loose tea, something a lot of tearooms in the Baltimore area don't do. There were no scones left because reservations are a must -- the kitchen only bakes enough for that day's customers. On my next trip to Berlin, I'm calling ahead.

Finally, I loved the looks of the Pink Box Bakery and Cafe. The little pink building it's in is as ornate as the frosting on a birthday cake. The pastries looked pretty good, too.

It sounds like we could pull together a TTT on Tea rooms.

Have always been somewhat amazed(?) that coffeehouses that go to great lengths to brew a suppsedly' great cup of coffee, just zip open a tea bag plop it in a cup and pour semi-hot water that has been setting for hours
and call it a cup of tea!!!

I had dinner at the Solstice Grill last spring and it was FABULOUS !!!!
Service was professional, the food was fabulous and the atmosphere relaxing.
I would highly recommend it. If it's not in your neck of the woods, stay at the Imperial hotel for a lovely weekend getaway .

If you're on the Upper Shore, the Imperial Hotel in Chestertown has a superb restaurant. And try the Blue Heron Cafe for lunch -- menu varied when last there from an unconventional crabcake to sweetbreads (!).

Elizabeth, So Happy you found this restaurant! While in OC last year, a friend & his wife took Mary & I to Solstice for our anniversary. It is about 30 minutes outside of OC and worth the drive. Creative food and a solid, reasonably priced wine list along with a knowledgeable staff. Aside from that, the quiet town is a pleasant reprieve from the beach. When we have a chance to leave our restaurant and eat out, we support independents and this is the kind of restaurant that needs to be discovered by many more folks to continue to survive.
