80 degrees, baby

FloridaMap.jpgThis, my children, is a map of Florida. Tomorrow I'm going to get onto the AirTran airplane with my drippy nose and low-grade fever and head for warmer climes. I'm going to be the one they warn you about when they talk about how dangerous recycled plane air is.

But I'm not planning to abandon you. Unlike Italy, I'll be in the same time zone with a desktop computer. (I'm staying at a friend's condo in St. Pete Beach.) I'll have access to my e-mail and blog software.

Of course, I won't be able to resist talking about Florida restaurants, but I promise to post something relevant to Baltimore places at least once a day. And don't worry: If there's any breaking news, I'll have to beat my editors off with a stick to keep them from posting it.

Just be patient if there's a time lag in approving comments. I might be down by the pool.

Florida restaurants?!?! I'm a Tampa native and have been looking forward to my reservation at Bern's on the 25th! I make a point to eat there at least once a year during the course of my visits. The restaurant is so nostalgic for me. And , it ain't too shabby!

Can't wait to hear where you go in and around St. Pete - the area has exploded since I've left so it feels practically new each time I go back.

Definitely head over to Gulfport....a funky little town just minutes from St. Pete's Beach....check out Pia's and Back Fin Blue for dinner....great spots! Enjoy the warmer weather.

Are you bringing back loaves of bread from Publix?

Haven't gotten over there yet to see if they still have Brownberry, but if so, and if they haven't changed the formula, then yes!

it felt like 70 here when i went out for lunch (i mention lunch only because this is a food blog). nah-nah-nah.

I hope that you heal and,of coure, have a good time. I read, with interest, your review of Woodberry Kitchen Sunday. I ate there with friends a few weeks ago and the comment you made about wine peaked my interest. We enjoyed the food and had a good reasonable bottle of wine. My friend and I decided to have one more glass and asked the waitress for a glass of the "house" cabernet. When we got the bill we learned that the cost of the glass was $16.00. We were told by the manager that they do not have a "house' wine and that was the cost of the cabernet. Gee it ruined what was a very good meal. Has anyone else had that problem? I've never encounterded a glass of wine at any local place that pricy.

Charles: its 70 in Baltimore, too. And there was no plane fair to pay.

Yes, Baltimore is where I am too, which is what I was pointing out to Madame Blogger Extraordinaire.

Sorry, Charles. When its not written in crayon, I have troulbe following the wodrs.
