Trendy Perry Hall
Don't look now, but Perry Hall may be the next hot spot for Baltimore foodies.
You may laugh, but consider the instant success of Phat Pug, the area's first coal-fired pizza.
And then...
(Kenneth K. Lam/Sun Photographer)
...talking to Kevin, one of the owners of Soup's On, I learned that he and his twin brother have returned to Perry Hall from LA to be near their mother, and they offer all sorts of cutting-edge creations at their soup emporium like bok choy and shiitake mushroom.
In the trend reporting business, if you have three examples, you have a trend. All I need is my third. I don't know the Perry Hall area well, but if you have a suggestion, please post below.
There was this comment, but I'm not sure we're talking the requisite level of trendiness here.

Liberatore's is a great spot in my opinion. Good food in a family friendly environment as well as a cool bar area that hosts bands and has several tvs for watching the games. In the summer time they even had outside seating!!

I have always really enjoyed Kiko's Cucina Mexicana in Perry Hall. The food is awesome, and the service is always great. I was just there on a Sat. night a few weeks ago, though, and the place was dead. It was sad ... and I can't figure out why more people haven't discovered it. Maybe the strip-mall location and/or the lack of a liquor license? (BTW, looks like Karen Nitken reviewed it back in December 2005.)

Phat Pug was I repeat WAS good. After being closed for two weeks I stopped in to find the store to what I would call dismay. It is no where near as nice looking as it was, looked much more like a pizza shop. I got a pizza, which was one of my favorites. When I got it home the pizza which usually was crisp was soggy from all the grease from the extreme amount of cheese on it. The pizza went from being a nice high end, pricey, but excellent gourmet style pizza to a sloopy nasty piece of garbage. It is a shame because I adored that pizza.

Cousins Cafe has excellent home made Greek foods. They have the best Greek salad around with a home made dressing that is fantastic. I ask them to bottle the dressing but they have not as of yet.
