Mt. Washington Tavern sold

I had heard from a reliable source that the Mt. Washington Tavern had been sold, although each party involved vigorously denied it when I called. But I see that a Liquor Board notice of transfer (of the liquor license) confirms it.

The new owners are employees -- well, I guess ex-employees -- and I'm also guessing they're of the "if it ain't broke" school of new ownership, or they would have talked to me about the sale.

When I get over being grumpy about the whole thing, I'll call back and try to get details about any changes being planned. Probably not many, if any. Why mess with success?

I actually chatted with one of the new owners (prior employees) just last week at a golf event. You are correct, his exact words were "if it ain't broke..." when we asked what would change. Don't know why they are acting like it is such a secret, he wasn't the other night!!!!

I called two or three weeks ago, so maybe things weren't finalized then.

does anyone know who the "ex-employees" are who purchased the tavern? a first name or two is good enough for me... thanks!

I was there at the Jazz/wine fest on Sunday and Mgmt was happily talking about it. Maybe it wasn't complete when you called.

2 names: Dave/Rob

"If it ain't broke..." what a shame. I had hoped that this great space would contain some worthwhile food, for once. The Washington Tavern, while a good meeting place, has a menu that is full of outdated cliches.
