A soft opening for the restaurant formerly known as Vespa

I hear that the new Vespa (1117-21 S. Charles St.) is having a soft opening tonight, another next weekend, and then is planning to be open officially the week after that. The new owners may have decided to keep the name, and why not. The first Vespa, in the same location, was a local favorite. Or it may be called Junior's Wine Bar. My source has gotten conflicting information.

Please post below if you happened to be there.

I'm not sure where you got your information, or whether there was a soft opening, but I live in the neighborhood and regularly walk by the place. I went up Charles on Friday and noticed some activity, but they in no way looked like they were close to being ready to open.

There was an item in the SoBo Improvement Committee newsletter last spring that said that they planned to open in early summer, but during June and July they not only weren't open, they had a Baltimore City stop work order pasted on the front door.

I used to visit the old Vespa regularly even though I lived in Howard County. It was a decent place. But I'll believe the revamped restaurant is open when it's actually open.

That's wise. If you do notice anything more, please keep us posted.

I walked by there on Saturday and it looks like they've installed the point of sale computers but the it still seemed like a construction site with dust and other flotsam lying around.
