There's a first time for everything

This is such an ugly photo I wouldn't even be posting it if I didn't need proof. Can you guess what it's a picture of? ...

We took my 93-year-old mother-in-law out to dinner in DC last night to her favorite spot, Chadwick's Pub in Friendship Heights. (She's a very hip 93-year-old.) I like it only because it has nice outdoor seating -- a beautiful deck set back from Wisconsin Avenue.

Anyway, my husband ordered the dish pictured, a garden burger -- with bacon. It sort of made me queasy to think about it.

I'm trying to look on the bright side. I guess it's better for him than a bacon cheeseburger.

Hey Elizabeth -- was this actually listed on the menu as garden burger with bacon? Some restaurants have Ambiance. This one has Ambivalence.

There was a garden burger on the menu. I believe my husband was the first one ever to think of adding bacon to it. At least the waitress had never had a customer order one with bacon, as she told us when she finally stopped laughing.

The other person in our office stuck her head around and wanted to know why I was laughing out loud. I think your husband is a hoot!

I too laughed aloud sitting alone in my kitchen. I kind of get it. It's like ordering a bacon cheeseburger and a diet coke. You have to cut back somewhere.
