Where to get good pancakes
Ex-deskmate Steve (he's moved over to The Sun's metro section), had one last request before he left. He wanted me to do a Top Ten places to get pancakes.
I decided not to, although I like the variety (as opposed to always doing types of restaurants), because I can't think of ten. ...

The photo is from Two Sisters Grille in Remington, and I could also list Gertrude's at the BMA, Miss Shirley's on Cold Spring Lane, the Blue Moon Cafe in Fells Point, Spoons in Federal Hill, the Golden West Cafe in Hampden, XS in Mount Vernon, Morning Edition Cafe in Butcher's Hill, and First Watch in Pikesville; but that's about all.
Actually, that's nine, and I'm sure I could come up with one more; but I'd be grading the pancakes on what I think of the restaurant or cafe in general, not that I'd tried all the pancakes.
If you would eliminate any of these, or if you have a tenth one for me, please post below. Steve will thank you for it.

For the absolute best mouth watering pancakes in all of baltimore (and at a very reasonable price) try Never on Sunday's on Charles Street up by the Belvedere. There pancakes are huge and literally melt in your mouth.

I find pancakes are the opposite of pizza. Even when pancakes are really good, they are still pretty bad.
I've been to the Mecca of pancakes:Walker Brothers in Chicago. Yes they had good pancakes...but it was still just pancakes.

This topic reminds me of the time many years ago when friends of ours had a visitor from France. They took him to a trendy new creperie in NYC. His comment was "Zis is not a crepe. Zis is cr*p."

What about Helen's Garden in Canton? They do a fantastic brunch, including great pancakes. A friend of mine swears by the pumpkin pancakes they do in the fall. I'd also add Harvest Table on Locust Point to the list of places for pancakes.

I love Miss Shirley's pancakes - big and light as a feather.
But my very favorite are my own, made with real buttermilk and melted butter in the batter.

The Red Star does a weekend brunch. Their blueberry coconut pancakes are excellent.

Double T Diner pancakes are always crisp on the outside and melty on the inside. Mmm, melty . . .
