Alexander's Tavern update
Sam Sessa, formerly Carry Out Sam, was kindly covering my beat on his blog, Midnight Sun, while I was gone. In case you missed it, here's a link to his info on Charlie Gjerde's new place in Fells Point, Alexander's Tavern at 710 S. Broadway, which is supposed to open next week. Supposedly it's a casual family restaurant as well as a bar. In any case, I imagine the food will be a cut above traditional bar eats.

Elizabeth, your trip sounds fantastic! My wife and I did a Western Med cruise 5-6 years ago. And yes, saw the Smart cars and fell in love with them. They are supposed to start selling in U.S. within the next couple of years I believe. Actually, there was an article in your paper a while back about a guy who bought two of them, and took him a couple of years to get them, and they were very expensive, because of the way he had to obtain them. They are Great, and some other cars similar to them. I think they are made by Ford, which is kind of sickening, but Americans have to have their SUVs or bigger, don't they?
