Hog heaven

In honor of Memorial Day, next week's Top Ten Tuesday will be local places to get good barbecue.  This isn't my area of expertise, so I'll see if I can get Rob to do my work for me consult with my colleague Rob Kasper, who writes the Happy Eater column, before I make up my list.

Suggestions welcome! Please post below.

ok...get in your car and drive south in about six to eight hours you'll be in Carolina or Tennessee. You'll be able to get some good BBQ there.

Other than that I like Big Bad Wolf on Harford Road. They have really good beef ribs and brisket, which are not as easy to find around here as pork. Unfortunately, they are not open on Sunday, which seems like the day I want BBQ the most.

Bayside Bull, on Rt. 214 in Edgewater always has great BBQ and ribs.

The chowhound.com area favorite seems to be Andy Nelson's, up in the wilds of Cockeysville.

My major complaint with ribs in the Baltimore area is that virtually no one burns/carmelizes the sauce onto them. They use good ribs but then just pour the sauce on at the end. The closest to what I like is Bare Bones in Ellicott City. Otherwise you have to get south to at least Richmond for that style.
