Amazon Prime customers may get Kindled

kindleatbusstop.jpg

According to the technology site TechCrunch, Amazon really wants to expand their Kindle customer base. And who better to get hooked on their e-reader than the clients who are already most loyal: Amazon Prime subscribers.

For those who don't use Amazon on a regular basis, and therefore don't get bombarded with pleas to become an Amazon Prime subscriber, it goes like this: If you pay $79, you get free two-day shipping on all packages from Amazon for a full year.

For people who buy Amazon products at least a couple of times a month, this would clearly save you some money in the long run. And it keeps the company's most active (and hopefully loyal) customers coming back for more.

And adding this incentive? Well, it makes a lot of sense, as soon as they -- as TechCrunch puts it -- "can work out how to do it without losing money."

I had an Amazon Prime subscription last year, that I let expire, but with perks like that, I might just be lured back in.

i'm in an amazon prime trial right now -- i had the service two years ago and let it lapse. if i got a free kindle, i'd be willing to actually pony up for a new subscription.

I have a very hard time believing this rumor. Not that I wouldn't like it to be true as an Amazon Prime member. I'd take a free Kindle, but I'm certainly not willing to pony up the money for it myself. Especially since the majority of reading I do is from library books, and the Kindle currently doesn't support library lended e-boooks.

I do love Prime though.
